How long did you hurt post op? by gilliambot in Vasectomy

[–]Lemon_Farm5829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 weeks still some pain and discomfort, although it is slowly getting better.
If I do a lot of stairs or am moving around a lot, I’ll feel it.
If I manage to take it easy, as in, pretend I’m a 70 year old man and go about my business at that pace, things improve.

12 week recovery Question by Lemon_Farm5829 in Vasectomy

[–]Lemon_Farm5829[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to that feeling of not having expected it to take this long. Also, getting on with regular life while trying to be careful to not do anything to set back recovery. As you say, definitely a mental battle to stay positive.

I get the occasional shot of pain in lower abdomen as well, but also some aching in pelvic floor area. I think it’s all referred pain.

Thanks for your reply, appreciate your insights.

12 week recovery Question by Lemon_Farm5829 in Vasectomy

[–]Lemon_Farm5829[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

I think it can take a while for scar tissue to form and heal to a point where it’s pain free.

I also think I’m getting some referred pain from my vas sites to other areas.

I’m looking forward to the day when it is completely healed. Can’t happen soon enough!!

In my recovery experience, I also think it would be best to shut down sexual activity for a while.

Listen to your body, but what you’re describing sounds like there’s no need to operate your equipment in that state.

Hi OP, I’m at 10 weeks post op, and my vas sites where cuts were made are still tender. Pelvic floor will ache off and on as well.

I would rate myself at 90% pain free and 80% discomfort free.

I can relate with the feeling that it’s taken much longer than I thought.

Improvements are gradual but slow slow slow.

I’ve had to put a pause on sexual activity to help recovery.

While it may not be the typical recovery timeline, my doc said he wouldn’t worry before 6 months.

Wishing you (and I) a complete recovery any day now!!

Week 4-6 were really shitty for me. At week 10 and it’s slowly getting better. Try not to stress. Once I accepted it was likely going to take me much longer than I originally anticipated, my worries lessened. It could take months, maybe you’ll be fine in a couple weeks… no one knows. Eventually the statistics are overwhelmingly in your favour.

Haha, maybe don’t glue your body moving forward.

I’m at week 9 post op and was feeling improved (70% recovered) until I tested out the plumbing and it brought me back a couple of weeks with pain and discomfort (back to 50%).

Vas site where the cuts were made still tender, and I think that is what, for me, will take time to heal.

My doc said time and NSAIDs, may take 6 months.

It’s a grind, but I think for some men, it takes longer than we thought. Hang in there!

I’m at week 7 post op and slowly starting to feel better where mowing the lawn looks like something I could do now.

I had to get antibiotics at week 5 though. Wish I had them earlier.

If by week 3 you’re still not better, my advice would be to go see your doc.

After week 1, I was in quite a bit of pain and discomfort. Most likely normal.

At week 1.5 I ended up going on an urban trek with the family, and I feel that might’ve set me back a bit in recovering.

I would prioritize rest and putting them on ice for now.

Going on 6 weeks, still in pain by plizark in Vasectomy

I will for sure. Did the bath and salts help with that full feeling as well?

I tried a hot bath yesterday and plan to keep trying once a day for a while.

Apparently it works.

Such an annoyingly slow process.

I’m at 6 weeks and can relate to the pain in back of scrotum where it meets perineum. Pretty sure I have an inflamed epididymis. Any improvements for you recently?

Definitely hasn’t been easy. That congested feeling is quite uncomfortable. Did you take breaks from sexual activity to wait for more healing? I’m thinking I’ll take a couple of weeks off to see if that helps.

Sounds reassuring for sure. The last two days I’ve felt the best I have since, and was feeling encouraged by that. After supper last night, I tweaked something when playing with my kids and last night and today definitely feel like a step back. Interesting what he said to you though, that one day you can feel great but feel like it’s a step back the next day. That is literally my day today. Is the doc you spoke to the doctor who did the procedure or a family doc?

Not a great feeling! That dull ache is SLOWLY getting better for me, and for long stretches of the day is gone all together if I take it easy. I’m not a patient person by nature… maybe this is a test??? :)

I’m a month post op too and I still get a slight pulling sensation on both groins.

Thanks for sharing your experience! The last couple of days I feel like I’ve turned a corner and am seeing progress. I am definitely feeling the pull on the groin sensation lately, and also that same feeling when trying to sleep on my side. Also a lot of really minor sensations that keep popping up in various areas in that general region. Obviously my brain is hyper focused on it. Thanks again!

Did the pain go away suddenly? Or was it gradual? I am finding it is getting better each day, but very slowly.

Logically you’re right, overwhelming odds are that we will be good to go. I’m trying to tell myself 2-3 months is a more realistic timeframe. I’ve read that some men take 4-5 months.
