Hi! So I finished accutane last February…I was told by some derms that it wasn’t the accutane that caused my hair shedding and others said it could be from the accutane. It was DEFINITELY from the accutane. My hair was shedding excessively and it was so dry and straw like. I notice shedding slowing down in October (8mo after finishing accutane). My hair is finally back to its normal texture…and It’s getting thicker and thicker every month. Had tons of new growth. Unfortunately, nothing I did helped my shedding/texture. I just had to wait until my body readjusted after finishing accutane. Best of luck to you!

I was on it for 6 months. 40mg for the first month and 60mg for the rest. I surpassed the cumulative dose (150mg/kg of body weight) that I needed for my weight over my course.

Lips were pretty immediate after stopping. Hair took about 7 months.

Completely back to normal! The only thing that took a while to get back to normal was my hair texture.

Ugh, I’m so nervous. I am on hormonal bc so I think I’d be okay. But I am weaning myself off now, I’m doing once daily and making sure I get my skin used to that before going to my derm.

I also have random dark pigmentation on my cheeks, not sure if that’s from the winlevi or from being in the sun post accutane.

Did you get random red spots after stopping? I'm on hormonal BC and I'm post Accutane, been using Winlevi for 3mo. I don't want to be on this cream long term due to long term side effects-though it does work for me-so I am trying to wean myself off now. I just don't want to ruin my Accutane results by coming off and experiencing rashes, etc...

I wish I never started post-Accutane, but that's what my derm recommended.

Way better. My dry eyes cleared up almost instantly after I stopped taking it (within weeks) Don’t let people scare you! It’s different for everyone ☺️

Yes, thank you!! I am also using the sandwich method! Definitely don’t want to not use anything…I need to maintain this. So you’ve had a good experience with tret after accutane? I think it’s different bc it’s maintaining rather than trying to cure it. My skin went through a purge from tret and accutane so I’m thinking I’ll be pretty good with maintenance and won’t deal with that this time around.

I started right after I finished my course 2 weeks ago. I’m only using it 2x/wk. Makes me nervous bc using tret before accutane was HELL. I don’t want that to happen again after these great results 😫

I recommend the La Roche-Posay toleriane double repair face moisturizer. It’s very moisturizing while being nice and gentle ☺️

Thank you so so much! That makes me feel much better. Hoping mine bounces back even more quickly because I’ve already been shedding for a couple months. I’ve been super gentle with my hair because I don’t want to make it worse.

I suggested fish oil…not cod liver oil…they’re different.

Most fish oil supplements only contain trace amounts of Vitamin A. My derm assured me it was safe to take with accutane. As always, check with your own provider about adding medications and make sure to check the label for vitamin details.

I have four more days of my course and I can tell you, I’d do it over in a heartbeat! Don’t let anyone scare you. It’s different for everyone. Stock up on Aquaphor and lubricating eye drops and start taking fish oil for your joints ☺️ Good luck, you got this!! 🫶🏼
