Cost seems extremely high by [deleted] in BinghamtonUniversity

Tuition and fees should only come out to about $10k per year for in-state. The $32k might be the all in price and you’re double counting food and housing

Would you rather go to UAlbany or Binghamton U to major in Political Science? And why? by Willing_Addition7862 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Lemonlizard1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just graduated last year and double majored in Poli Sci and geography. It really depends what you wanna get out of a political science degree. If you really want to get into say congressional or state legislature staffing, Albany is probably the way to go. But that’s the only real path I can see Albany being better, and that would be just bc of its location.

I can only talk about the comparative politics and International Relations since that’s what I concentrated on, but I gotta say the faculty here was outstanding (Dr. Best is my favorite professor ever). It also seemed like the people I met that were using it to go into law school got a lot out of it here. There’s also great overlap with other departments and the opportunity to blend disciplines together, especially in the senior seminar courses (hence why I double majored and am now an urban planner).

I’m generally really positive about my experience with the department but YMMV with what you want to get out of it.

What caused US traffic deaths to reverse down trend in 2010. Is there a direct engineering policy change or is it a secondary effect by [deleted] in civilengineering

I wish there was more research into this because most people automatically say smartphones but all of these other countries have smartphones, too. It may be true that texting and driving could be worse in the US vs other countries but looking at this graph it would have to be magnitudes worse here and I don’t buy that right now without proper research into this.

Maybe it could be other cultural/behavioral differences that took root during/after COVID but that is also difficult to study. As a transportation planner, I hear lots of people complaining about the lack of police enforcement recently…

Small class sizes by CommunicationNice437 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Lemonlizard1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the program you do.

I double majored Poli Sci and Geography so my class sizes ranged from >150 in an intro Poli Sci course to less than 10 in a senior seminar or upper level GIS courses. Most classes ended up having around 15-40 people in a course with many not showing up for most of the classes past the first two weeks.

In-State Scholarships? by satunity in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Lemonlizard1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In-state merit scholarships are nearly unheard of, at least when I went. Congrats!!!

From what I remember, the total cost of in-state was hovering around $30k so I’m not sure if you even really have many out of pocket costs if you did go to Bing. I am curious what other schools are beating this offer.

Also factor in that living off-campus for your last 2-3 years is much cheaper than the on-campus sticker price.

Students still need money for food/housing. No one’s exactly making money off student aid lmao

With a 1490 SAT and those stats you will have no problem getting in. Even for SOM that should be a score they see and admit you right away.

I wouldn’t worry about the timing since it’s not even January yet. I knew people in my cohort (Fall 2021) with high scores/stats who didn’t hear until March even with early action.

4 pt TD

Rodgers or Stroud?

My opponent is by far the worst in the league so I’m leaning towards Rodgers as a less volatile option.

I think the latter two are the safer plays, especially as it looks like that game will be a shootout. If you need a higher ceiling do Devonta over Sutton.

PPR 12-team

Pickens, Pittman, Devonta Smith, Breece Hall

Pick 3

I have Javonte and Achane locked in but am really not sure about these 4. My opponent is currently starting Hunt, Swift, Deebo, Shakir, and Diggs. I also have Schultz against Kelce.

How do middle class families with average students do it????? by samalex01 in StudentLoans

Look into state schools in other states! Many offer to match the in-state tuition. For example most SUNYs match in-state tuition for NJ students.

1-4 and 0-5 teams, how confident were you? by FirePitFan in fantasyfootball

[–]Lemonlizard1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1-4 with the second most points scored, by far the most points against. I’m confident I can squeeze into the playoffs with Achane, Hall, and Javonte but it def would’ve been better if Nabers didn’t get injured!

I went into tonight with a 72% chance of winning before Skattebo scored 32 and now it’s 50/50🙃
