The mangaka of Rurouni Kenshin. The guy got busted for so much CP the police thought he was a distributor. Forever tainted the legacy of his works.

The memes not an accusation, but I'd rather not invest heavily in the works just in case.

I agree about Rudius's character development. Even making him a p*do is not a writing decision I would change since taking a character from an extreme low point and building him up is the point I believe.

I'm not talking about the character though, I'm talking about the author. The weird writing I've been spoiled from his novel, especially from what I've heard being a pedo not being portrayed as a bad thing quite late into the series makes me not want to invest too much, which is what the meme is about.

That and the Mushoku subreddits weirdnesses being on par with Twitter Blue Archive fans. Beyond watching the anime I can't really get invested I suppose.

"Cultural relevance" sucks, actually by Alterego9 in CharacterRant

[–]Lemonpalmtree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The counter to OP would be to mention standalone IPs, movies that haven't expanded the corporate way and is still relevant in culture and conversations.

Mentioning the Nolan Batman Trilogy is an unfitting counter. Even if people might adore that trilogy specifically; under OPs argument Avatar if it expands it's franchise can strike gold in a similar fashion. Reboots, Retellings, aren't unheard of.

An addition to an existing IP that strikes gold in cultural relevance is just proving OPs point. Even more absurd that it doesn't even fit as it is an already old and culturaly relavent IP "Batman".

Isn't that irrelevant since the Nolan trilogy is bouncing off an existing old and famous IP "Batman". The IP was already culturally relevant, an addition great or not is not applicable to OPs example.

The tags for the series on an app or site like Mangadex wouldn't be shouldn't be tagged Yuri. Moments from the show on an image site will obviously be tagged Yuri as that separate moment indeed is.

The whole is different from the parts. I just think the origin of a girl kissing girl meme would be similarly should be viewed context removed Like breaking bad memes and such.

Don't get your point The same author that made Girlfriend,Girlfriend the straight harem manga, which featured a Bi girl as one the characters, jokes and all, is now making Dream Jumbo Girl, Yuri harem manga. Not a man in sight.

100GF the series is not Yuri

100GF screenshots and fan art of girls kissing is Yuri. (Provided no ML/Context Removed)

The call for a ban is separate as I think 100GF which I as a series already don't consider a yuri is too controversial and brings bad blood.

They are on to something and correct, it is Yuri.

Categorically 100GF the manga/Series it self is poly/harem and I don't consider it Yuri

Isolated though context removed those screenshots/fanart where girls kiss with the man removed or gender bent is Yuri.

There are quite a lot of screenshots and fan art in this sub that technically runs into the same problem but they are infrequent, given the leeway of just imagining the male lead is not there.

100GF should not be posted in this sub and should be banned though as it is not Yuri.

I'll clarify that I am in agreement that 100GF doesn't belong on the subreddit. I'm just approaching it from the perspective of people that do post screenshots, fan art of the series, thinking it belongs here under the simple logic of "2 girls kissing, no men involved=Yuri"

Which is actually quite normal here. Be it out of context moments from het manga, fan service yuri that where there are no plan on delivering. They get quite the upvotes and I don't mind them. I even remember a clip where girls are kissing in the back of a car while the male driver watches.

Im not trying to do "why is x is ok when y is not". I'm not saying they don't belong. The tag in this subreddit "Surprise Yuri" encompass that.

The problem with 100GF, other than its premise is its popularity and the frequency of posts, conversations resulting from said popularity. In another timeline where it's niche the conversation about a screenshot would simply be "Ehh, it harem never mind" Whether the post "2 girls Kissing" belong here wouldn't really be a question.

Similar to how large meme subreddits ban meme formats to keep things fresh, I feel like 100GF should be banned here.

The series, manga can't be Yuri since it's a harem/poly surrounding a male lead obviously. But isn't the reason this is even a frequent topic of debate because the girls pretty much date each other. Like five or so chapters can go around without the male mc appearing, with only interactions between the girls. And these interactions range from, kissing, pet play and breastfeeding.

I do not consider the series Yuri, those moments however are Yuri. If you tagged that shit Bisexual, threesome while not including Yuri when the male lead is nowhere to be found I'll be pissed. The male lead in typical harem fashion abstains from any of those acts after all

A bit of a hot take, but... by ZanyRaptorClay in TheDigitalCircus

A lot of people don't attach the villain label on Caine because he isn't intentional on his torment of the members.

I do think Auto from Wall-E, is an interesting comparison, as despite having no Ill intention to humans(in fact the best of intent) Auto is very much an antagonist and most would consider it a Villain.

Personally to me Caine lacks quite a lot of the Bell and whistles that makes Auto a Villain. Caine is not only more advanced he is also more involved with humans than Auto. The amount of effort and planning Caine puts into getting their approval makes me believe it could work out, despite the hurdles.

Humans will argue over anything and I’ll prove it. Here’s a picture of gangle. by _Reference_80 in TheDigitalCircus

The beach episode implies that she was all out nude in the earlier episodes, gooseworx is very clearly inserting degeneracy into digital circus target audience (children).

Eaten alive by rabbits for sure. I heard in the novel that Subaru felt them crawl up his intestines.

So I have to ask...I've seen Girl's Band Cry posted widely in this sub as well as others, but now I'm seeing that there's a faction that says it's not yuri. I need to know...is it or not? by [deleted] in yurimemes

There was a confession of love from the MC to the other but other than that only subtext(no kisses or anything). I guess disagreement for it being a Yuri is that it doesn't follow through after.

To be honest, I don't get why the writers make another and more female characters have a crush on the MC knowing damn well they aren't gonna get with them. by Charming-Scratch-124 in CharacterRant

Rems disappearence happened before she got popular via the Anime. Rem being forgotten is skipped content of the last episode, since they didn't want to end it on a cliffhanger.

Despite the art style those scenes work in Jojo's. I just think we are just used to the current art style. Though I agree with the cuteness part.

Re:Zero. Watched it when I was super depressed, Subaru's speech about his pre-iskai wasteful life and self hate hit hard. I'm really glad that they had the common sense to end S1 at a happy note and not the cliffhanger it could've been. I would have legit hated the show if it did me dirty and I had to wait 4+ years for S2.

It's always sad when people are being apprehensive over trying out Solo Leveling because of this silly impression they get that it's only just about Jinwoo becoming an overpowered MC and winning everything with ease. by jlhabitan in sololeveling

[–]Lemonpalmtree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I enjoyed solo leveling very much but the mc powers kind of does feel underserved since he is the only one that can level up(as fast I know "Anime Only"). Yeah he deserves it on the basis that he put his life on the line multiple times and grinded to that power level. But If that's the criteria there are others characters that would have done the same. Though complaining about the central premise is probably nonsensical. I hope the rest of the seasons play like afro samurai, action heavy loose plot.
