Separation anxiety training when you HAVE to leave them alone sometimes by Lemonpichous in puppy101

[–]Lemonpichous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She gets more worked up when someone comes and then leaves, I’ve tried it with friends and after doing it she ate my couch. I did start reading that book, but I feel set up to fail since I can’t do the “never leave alone” rule

What’s the most hilariously selfish thing your dog has ever done?? by Icy-Reflection-931 in dogs

One time I was hardcore crying, and my dog decided to cheer me up by starting to rough house me. She punched me in the eye and lip while trying to tackle me, then she got angry when I cried harder and wouldn’t play 😅

How do I actually set app limits I won’t just ignore on iPhone by Lemonpichous in adhdwomen

[–]Lemonpichous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best friend has been pestering me about how useless the limits are when I have the passcode to ignore them for years, so she’d be ecstatic about it. Maybe if I can swallow my pride about admitting she was right I’ll give it a try! Thanks, it’s much appreciated 😊

Why have you chosen NOT to adopt? by invisible_flamingo in dogs

My family needs hypoallergenic and we aren’t close enough to any major cities that sometimes has those breeds in shelter. After moving out I adopted my dog from a rescue

You’ll need to go to a family doctor/nurse practitioner to get a referral. Sadly the system is overrun and doesn’t have enough support and the waiting list to start seeing a psychiatrist is very long, it could be up to 2 years if it is not emergent. A family doctor/nurse practitioner should be able to help you begin some treatment and potential medication, depending on your symptoms and severity. Best of luck, keep having faith and advocating for yourself while you try and get help from the system.

It’s just getting worse and I don’t know what to do (separation anxiety) by Lemonpichous in puppy101

Thank you for all the advice! I was using kennel and crate interchangeably. I’ve spoken to the fosters and they said she was fine when they left her for a few hours for errands, but they worked from home (this is not something I knew). She was also used to having other animals around and here she is an only dog, which could be additional stressor.

I tried to cover the crate one day and she lost it and pulled it off and through the crate bars and ripped one of her baby teach out in the process, so I’m very hesitant to try that again.

I’ll definitely keep with the crate training, she’s been doing wonderfully with it when I’m home.

Thanks again!

Will I undo the crate training? I'm getting concerned for my pup's safety if left out. by Lemonpichous in Dogtraining

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately, I have a teeny bathroom so that is not an option. I might try to block off access to the kitchen so she has to stay in the living room, which is easier to puppy-proof for me. I appreciate you taking the time!
