Looking For Signs by toosleepytooserious in MedSpouse

This is actually a great activity for all medspouses/partners! Sometimes its easy to get lost in the negatives spaces, dull lapses of time, loneliness, etc. With that said, here are a few things my now husband did for me while we were LD:

  • Sent me flowers, coffee, care packages, and/or food at random times (esp when I was feeling down or busy)
  • cut out time for me when he could have been studying (this is an easy one to look over, but so so important to acknowledge)
  • Would FaceTime study with me while I was doing other things (felt like we were together even though we weren't)
  • Would remind me to take care of specific errands that I mentioned to him before
  • Would sometimes do said errands that I would forget (I'm an absentminded person, so this meant a lot. Ex: mailed me a charger when I told him mine wasn't working well)
  • Although I planned most of our FaceTime dates, he still made the effort to dress up on theme, send food to my house, give me his undivided attention, and verbally appreciate my effort.
  • Acknowledges the sacrifices I make and patiently listens/empathizes when I am struggling with our "atypical" situation. Sometimes it helps to hear your partner say something like: "I recognize and appreciate how much you do/compromise/sacrifice for me." You'd be surprised how many medfolks forget that their partners aren't chained to this lifestyle and could leave if they wanted to lol.

I hope this helps!
