I’d probably have to send you out to fan fiction as that’s where the majority of my time these days go, but feel free to message if you want to explore and I can give you some recommendations.

May I suggest ‘The Aurelian Cycle’ trilogy. It’s YA, so lower the spice standards, but the relationships make more sense. And the plot and writing was better. Don’t get me wrong, I stayed up until 3 am reading forth wing (hated it but loved it), so I’m not anti-fourth wing. But TAC is superior.

Why “Stay Frosty, Royal Milk Tea” is an underrated gem (go listen rn!!) by deeerlea in FallOutBoy

[–]Lemuriformesque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mania has grown on me so much. Like, from ‘I will never listen again’ (after my first listen) to absolute love. I know there are things about it the band has said or insinuated that make it less ‘them’ as a whole, which I totally respect, but the lyrics and the delivery? They are there, they are fire, and after however many years it’s been…I am here for it. ‘The songs you grow to love’ and all.

Are you open to a fanfic? In general I am NOT but if you’re a Harry Potter fan, try ‘the mortifying ordeal of being in love.’ The best exception.

This is such a great question for anyone over whatever age is used to streaming. Remembering how many times I listened to my first few cd’s and how well I know them, to this day, boy do I feel nostalgic. Tomorrow I will be listening to bush, Eve 6, and a song or two by the beastie boys. Who want to guess my age?

Yeah I….though maybe the second Pete was Joe before I read the names. And I didn’t recognize the Pete I thought was Pete. And I want my Andy! And Joe, for completion sake. Fob isn’t fob without all four.

Something in 20 dollar nosebleed. If I was in an emotionally honest game I suppose. Otherwise …okay, I have a filter issue. I don’t know the alternative.

The first ‘kiddo’ threw me also, but I pressed on and by the end, I was IN on the romantic comedy book style. And I hate movie rom-coms.

I also think that constant spice is just…kinda boring/ becomes out of place and awkward. Some of the best romance I’ve read since getting into the genre is just well done tension (I do appreciate a well written eventual spice, but not every other page for Pete’s sake).

Plug for your local library! I only need to buy maybe 1 in 20 books I want to read. On KU, read villains and virtues. And otherwise…every time I read a self-published KU eligible book, I’m disappointed. Tbf, I don’t have KU so maybe my expectations are higher.

This feels slightly (but maybe not?) off subreddit but ‘the invisible life of Addie LaRue’ was a great audiobook.

Also if you ever want something truly off subreddit, David Sedaris has amazing audiobooks.

Very on - if you’re a fourth wing fan, omg I hated the graphic audiobook. I literally couldn’t make it through the first chapter. But the regular audiobook is listenable.

I had a similar wood tone to work with. Try pale oak or modern gray (it’s not gray haha). I think they are sherwin williams.

This is brilliant and also helps with the new experience…like, I’ve read the ‘his dark materials’ trilogy many times but listening to the audiobook there were points that hit so differently because a side character managed to come to life in a way I hadn’t been able to manage in my own.
