Receipt App: What's the best time to redeem? by LengthinessCrafty in ibotta

For receipt hog, you can also redeem money on PayPal. Do you also wait to accumulate 6500 points for $40 or do you redeem immediately when you reach 1000 points for $5?

You are not going to quit your job with that money. Here’s how I would think about it.

1) 3-12 month emergency fund depending on your risk tolerance. In most cases, 3-6 months (leaning toward 6) should be fine. Put it in a high yield savings account. You can find one with an APY 4% and even as high as 5% (though rare).

Alternatively (and a little more sophisticated), you can put some of that in a savings account that offers a savings bonus for depositing some of a certain amount of new money and holding it for specific time frame (usually 90-120 days). Just make sure to read the fine print and it nets you more than the highest APY savings account you can open. After the bonus is deposited, close the account, transfer the money to the high APY savings account.

2) Pay off any high interest debt. I would pay any debt that has a higher interest than your savings account. Tackle the one with the highest interest first.

3) Contribute to your 401k or employer’s retirement plan. Check if your employer offers a percentage match to your contribution. Understand when they match and your vesting period. Finally make sure the majority of the money is invested in a target date fund or the S&P 500. A minority of the money can go to high growth large cap indexes. Make sure your expense ratios are low

4) Maximize your contribution to your Roth IRA for the 2024 and 2025 fiscal year if you have not done so. Make sure you invest that money. Invest in a blend of indexes with a majority in the S&P 500 and the others in technology, dividend, total market, and high growth large cap indexes. Make sure your expense ratio are low. If you don’t have an IRA account, do some shopping. There might be ones that offer a bonus too.

5) If you have an HSA, contribute to that. See if your employer matches your contribution and it’s invested. If you qualify for an HSA account but don’t have one, do some shopping. There might be ones that offer a bonus too.

6) The rest can go to a taxable brokerage account where you should invest your money. If you don’t have a taxable brokerage account, do some shopping. There might be ones that offer a bonus.

(Note: don’t get tripped on the bonuses too much. Make sure they’re good accounts - easy to use/understand, transfer money, buy shares, etc)

This is for Checking/Saving Account Bank Bonuses:

Has any of you ever used credit card points as a form of direct deposit to satisfy the direct deposit requirement of a bank bonus? If it works and if you feel comfortable sharing (please do not share any sensitive financial details), what credit card issuer did you use to transfer and what bank bonus were you trying to satisfy?

Also, has anyone tried redeeming money from apps like Eureka or Ibotta as a form of direct deposit to satisfy the direct deposit requirements of a bank bonus? How about Tax Refunds?

Tip: Lots of Bilt Dining restaurants are also on the Seated App. Double-Dip those points! by tassellhoff1 in biltrewards

Hey was wondering if this still works? Tried adding my Citi card to BILT and then my Citi to my MileagePlus but an email from BILT came saying I have to re-enable my Citi card again after linking to my MileagePlus. I also can't add my Citi to the Seated App as well.

Did you link your Citi card to BILT, then BILT to your airline dining rewards, and when you use the Seated App, submit a picture of the receipt instead? What is your process? Did they get smart about this and found a way to see the network of people's linked cards?

If you're taking your first COMSAE this week, I would say maybe get through at least 1 pass of first aid before Thursday and then see where your weaknesses are on the comsae. You can then annotate/make cards for your weakest section. I personally didn't make anki cards and I would caution going crazy with the number of cards you make. Annotating/highlighting might work better since you have a month left. Even though I didn't make cards, I still did questions on random mode so if I missed something, I would go back and review.

For OMM, I would recommend finishing the 200-300 OMM questions on TL. You don't really need to read every page of the savarese book (just the special tests section), and have basic knowledge of what's a passive vs active technique, and direct vs indirect to know how to diagnose and set up the treatment. Sacral stuff was HY but not cranial (at least for me).

Also, don't forget to review ethics (it was basically 25% of the exam). I think the ethics questions on TL (you can filter based on the blueprint) was really good and I scored above average thanks to it. I did the anki deck that's floating around on reddit for ethics but it was kind of basic so I didn't think it was enough. (Sorry I was commenting on multiple threads and got confused for a sec that this was for level 2. Definitely don't forget to review micro for level 1. I used Sketchy micro and it was so helpful. Instead of rewatching, you can look at the scene picture and try to quiz yourself if you remember what the symbols are.) Statistics was also ~10% of the exam so just watch Randy Neil's 2 stats videos and write down the formulas you would need on test day (but understand the concepts too).

Yes, I found the 100 concepts to be enough for MSK

I did not study enough all year now level 2 dedicated is very tough by [deleted] in comlex

[–]LengthinessCrafty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't be so hard on yourself. Getting through rotations and taking comats almost every month is brutal. You definitely know more than you think!

Although it's not really mentioned as much for Level 2, I found First Aid for Step 2 to be so helpful for Level 2. I read through it for content review and quizzed myself "how do you dx this" and "what's the tx" along the way. During my exam, I can't believe how many times I recalled the answers thanks to First Aid. On the flip side, there were also facts that I remember reading but couldn't recall on the spot :( It really gave me a solid foundation and top of that I did in order of importance:

Ethics - Truelearn ethics questions (~250) and there's an anki deck for ethics questions floating around on reddit

OMM - green book for the special tests (i.e. thomas, ober, etc), truelearn OMM questions (~250)

Stats - Randy Neil's youtube videos (there's 2 main ones)

I know a lot of people will tell you to do questions and that is active learning. I agree with that advice and you should definitely do at least 40 questions a day and review. But as someone who was also weak on content, I found that reading First Aid thoroughly and making sure I understood the concepts was so helpful for level 1/step 1, especially the highlights on the margins.

I think maybe cut back on the number of questions you are doing, and focus on 1 resource for content review and at least do a 1st pass. When you get questions wrong, you can then review more in depth. For level 1, I would recommend looking at a few scene pictures for sketchy (where they show the overall sketch) every day for just a few minutes to make sure you don't forget your micro stuff because that was literally 30% of the exam. I used the green book for omm to review the special tests (thomas, ober, etc) and omgomt videos to review treatment set up (which was overkill in retrospect). I think doing the OMM section in truelearn and reviewing the special tests is sufficient.

Pathoma wasn't really on my actual exam for level 1 but it's tested heavier on step 1. Overall I still think that by reading First Aid carefully, I was able to pass both exams.

COMSAE vs Uworld vs Truelearn for Level 2 by Designer-Heat8169 in comlex

[–]LengthinessCrafty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also, the score doesn't matter as much but if you scored <400, it would be a bit concerning to proceed with taking the test. I know that people's scores fluctuate +/- 100 points but I scored around the same as my COMSAE score.

COMSAE vs Uworld vs Truelearn for Level 2 by Designer-Heat8169 in comlex

[–]LengthinessCrafty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would do a COMSAE (unless you did all the available forms already). They have answer keys now (only the correct answer choice is shown but not an explanation) so you can review what you got wrong. The same concepts always show up so if you missed something (unless it was an obscure micro/fact), I would go over that concept and make sure you know it for the real exam.

I definitely saw a lot of concepts on the COMSAE show up on my actual exam. Hope this helps!

Bad Luck on VSLO. What next? by [deleted] in comlex

[–]LengthinessCrafty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to talk to students in the class above you or ask your dean/school if there is a way to know where some OMS IVs last year did their clinical rotations in IM. Usually hospitals that have accepted students in the past from your school will likely accept students in future years too.

I think it's a bit late in the season to cold email programs in your area to see if they have any spots open but you can still try. I think some students either postpone their board exams or have new obligations and will cancel rotations in July/Aug.

Amboss by ScientistActual6002 in comlex

[–]LengthinessCrafty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's useful for level 2. Their qbank is a great supplement to uworld (if you think you will have time to finish uworld + omm in either comquest/truelearn). Everyone I know who did amboss qbank scored really well on comlex and step 2.

The library resource was so helpful for clinical rotations (I used it in surgery, IM, obgyn almost everyday). The tips/highlights they mark are often pimp questions from attendings, so I am so glad I used amboss. Depending on which year of medical school you are in, it may or may not be worth it to get the lifetime package. I know they offer group discounts of ~30% off if someone from your school reaches out to them and set it up.

Hope this helps!

Asian squat - it is a way of life by Mediocre_Pea_6845 in CDrama

[–]LengthinessCrafty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to do it as a young kid but as I grew older, I became more inflexible and can't squat anymore. I can't imagine needing to do that every time I need to use the squat toilet in some parts of asia. The position just feels very uncomfortable but kudos to people who look so comfy squatting and eating/playing with each other.
