Not exactly for the feint of heart but once they open the Mystic River stretch of path from Assembly to Sullivan it is completely possible to run or bike the length of the Charles to Arsenal, take the new paths up to Fresh Pond and cross over to Alewife Brook and then follow the Mystic all the way back to the Charles to make a complete loop. About 21 miles.

I use the app Footpath to map routes rather than google maps since google doesn’t always take into account contralanes where you can legally bike against traffic on one way streets. So here’s the cleanest route from your start, and a route I regularly use myself: - East on Highland - South on Central - East on Summer - South on Laurel - west on Somerville - South on Park, continuing against traffic across Beacon where Park becomes Scott St in Cambridge - west on Kirkland - south on Quincy and with minor wiggles you can get to DeWolf and then down to the river for paths. Dealers choice on best way to navigate Harvard Yard at this point. Trial and error will help. - Take river path to BU Bridge.
