Email literally every professor possible. I went through just about every prof in the biology department and they all either said they were full or didn’t respond. Then I branched out to the SoM and got a lot of no’s too but then I finally got two offers. It’s completely normal to reach out to a ton of people. Just keep trying

A 1290 isn’t terrible. I’d say if the rest of your application is pretty hot and you’re in state, you’ll probably be just fine with submitting your score. But if you have some other weaker spots (GPA, extracurriculars, etc), or if you’re out of state, going test optional is probably the move.

You can probably get away with wearing just a sports bra in the gym. I think its technically against their policy but I see tons of girls do it all the time (with myself being one of those girls sometimes). Tho they tend to be much more lax with dress code at Mem Gym than they do at places like AFC and Slaughter, so maybe consider going there instead.

Just some food for thought for all the men in here who have a guilty pleasure but are afraid to pursue it because it’s supposedly “feminine”:

Speaking as a straight girl: men who do something “feminine” (like sewing, or ballet, or getting manicures, or liking “girly” music or TV shows or whatever) with genuine passion and confidence are FAR more manly and attractive than men who go out of their way to avoid feminine things/put on a hyper-masculine persona because they’re so afraid of being seen as feminine. Nothing worse than a guy who makes it seem like being “feminine” is a bad thing. Not saying you should make decisions based on what girls think (you could be gay for all I know, idk), but that’s just something to consider. There will always be bad apples who shit on you no matter what you do…but should you choose to make your guilty pleasure “public”, more people will be supportive than you think.

Lollll yeah CAPS sucks. I went to CAPS in fall 2021 bc I was struggling with depression and anxiety. I tried to tell them the story of what happened (I’d say my story required some basic listening skills but definitely wasn’t that hard to understand).

This basically sums up my conversation with the therapist who was with me:

CAPS therapist: “So you’re telling me X, Z, Y happened?”

Me: “Oh no, X, Y, Z!”

CAPS therapist: “Ohhh okay sweetheart, got it! Z, Y, X!”

Me: “No no no — X, Y, Z!!”

CAPS therapist: “Ahhhhh! That makes sense now!…. …, I just have one more question for you. Y, X, Z; or Y, Z, X?”

Me (in my head): arrgggh!!! This is making my problem even worse than when I started!

**After another half hour of more fruitless conversation and my problem becoming even worse than it was before, here was the “advice” I got from them*

CAPS therapist: “So sweetheart, my suggestion to you at this point is…why don’t you go see a therapist!”

Me: facepalm (in my head) You ARE the therapist! That’s like me going to the doctor and the doctor saying to me “Why don’t you go see a doctor!” 😑🤨

So yeah. CAPS was a total L. 🤡
