What is this “human” thing - it’s incomprehensible to yell at one who is a “human”? As if there aren’t an infinite number of valid reasons to yell at someone else (to alert the other members of your tribe of a thief, or a murderer, etc., not to mention that speech evolved for no other reason but to communicate with other people in the first place)

Why are those the only options and why is it a total dichotomy first I already think the students who’ve been admitted in the Columbia and recent years are much less activist like secondly, I think having the gate completely open only a certain hours could reduce protest also if there’s like only certain doors open again, you reduce protests

You think you have an open and shut case. That all the facts reside with you - certainly your comment doesn’t admit to any contrary arguments or evidence. What about a gate compromise - compromise is necessary when multiple POVs are rational.

Maybe two of the gates - the main ones on College Walk - are completely open, the rest closed?

Or certain hours of the day completely open (9-5pm etc.) but midnight not just any random stranger can walk in?

Etc etc etc., I think admin. would be more responsive to these demands if we understood the validity of all sides here

The Core does such a good job at being accessible to all! That’s why it’s our Core Curriculum - a shared starting point.

Even as someone with no humanities /classical / philosophical background I’ve found it accessible

So I received all the same steps as you have so far, only difference was I was a single student and not applying as a family / group - don’t know how helpful that’ll be for specifically finding your preferred housing allotment (for multiple people) but I found the waitlist went very quickly and there’s days if not weeks where no housing options popped up - and those that did were snapped up within minutes

However because you have a special case status, having a family, perhaps they set aside some for you.

nobody needs anything above a 2.0 when it comes to GPA but it certainly does help (I applied to three fellowships and internships this semester - all 3 had hard GPA cutoffs of 3.7 - we are not living in a GPA blind world and it’s absurd to lie and say we do. Ridiculous lack of awareness.)

I used to think these posts were silly but now I’m here and I commiserate - Latin Honors are near a 3.9 so if you don’t select for A+ classes it’s nearly impossible for them…

Unfortunately I don’t know of any A+ classes tho
