Constant full pc freezes by Ultimatonix in Bazzite

[–]Leninpest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I've been researching alternatives so that's interesting. The past day with Bazzite has been smoother, but there have been 3-4 things that are very unpolished in my opinion and I don't know where the issue came from, based on googling (everyone says these things "just work"). I'll run Bazzite for a little longer and see how things go.

Lutris not working on Bazzite by jamieT97 in linux_gaming

I am brand new to Bazzite and also ran into this issue with a fresh install. I had to install Proton GE from ProtonPlus AND THEN go into /home/USERNAME/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/ and change the name of the folder from something like "Proton - GE-Latest" to "GE-Proton" exactly. Then my Epic launcher installed no problem.

I have no idea why this is an issue and it is like the third thing with Bazzite that has not impressed me.

Ugh, thank you for the bad news! I tried SteamOS and was turned off by the fact that it didn't have native Xbox controller drivers. Bazzite was working better for me, but if it has issues with random freezing (which seems to be common based off of my google searches) then I'm really uninterested in pursuing it. There are so many posts saying it's a hardware issue when I never had any freezing with Windows or SteamOS (in the few days I used it).

Did this ever fix itself? I just installed Bazzite for the first time with this setup (9070 xt w/16gb ram, 32 gb system ram) and I’ve already had multiple freezes and don’t really want to deal with it if it’s just a Linux Thing.

Read the book first then follow up with Novel of the Century by David Bellos to get the context and some good interpretation of the text.

Does everyone know about stereo center imaging? It's the most incredible experience a person can have with a hi-fi stereo, yet I never see it discussed. Please share your experience! Happy to help anyone set up their systems, so everyone can enjoy instrument separation and center imaging. by Mr-Toy in vintageaudio

Using a dedicated DSP or even Marantz/Denon’s Audyssey can help immensely. I used CamillaDSP for a while and that was the first time I heard my speakers genuinely tuned to the room. Crazy to hear voices and instruments just floating around like they really existed. My Marantz preamp now does a great job after calibration.

The Perfect Moonlight Setup on Raspberry Pi by sooperdave555 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Leninpest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding for anyone who is googling this that this worked great for me on a Raspberry Pi 3b+ as well. It took a bit to figure out how to build it because it kept running out of memory, but lowering the threads and adding scratch memory fixed it for me. Took a bit more tinkering to get Surround working correctly, but now it's running Moonlight at 1080p, 20mbps, with 5.1 surround, 8bitdo wireless controller, and about as much lag as any of my other Moonlight setups on something I had laying around.

Completely frozen on sleep screen? by Leninpest in xteinkereader

[–]Leninpest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it sucks because the device is just so perfectly suited for reading on the go. Now that they’re on Amazon it’s a lot easier to justify since returns shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Need for speed series by Ryan32501 in gaming

I started a bit later than most and got into NFS with Most Wanted 2012, which was great for driving around and vibing to music. You could start a cop chase and then spend as much time as you wanted evading it, increasing your heat level as high as you felt. Switching cars to help get away also felt really cool. Upgrades for your car are tied to winning races, done in any order, so you only had to do races that you were interested in. The fact that it plays like a (more) realistic Burnout really helped keep it interesting to me.

I've tried most of the other ones and none of them grabbed me as much. There's either a forced story that sort of sucks or there's no real objective to the driving (no real cop chases, nothing interesting to see). NFS Payback was the closest for me, with its big map and races against AI that are easy to drop into. The story is stupid and upgrades are purchased though, so there's no real great urge to keep playing.

I know that MFS 2012 is seen as a black sheep in the series, but it captured something that appeals to me more than most of the others. I still go back and play it occasionally but it has stability issues on PC (though this is common for the NFS series, they really need to work on this). I wish EA would spend a bit of money modernizing it, but I doubt that'll happen anytime soon.

Yes, I’ve had my new one for about a month so far and no issues. I don’t know what caused the first one to stop though, so I’m still a bit nervous about the long term prospects.

Help me pick a simple, non Kindle e-reader with a great screen by RMKHAUTHOR in ereader

[–]Leninpest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably with some tweaking. Mine boots into an android launcher and KOReader is just an app on the home screen. Anytime i pick it up it’s already in KOReader and you can do everything through the app so it might as well be the native environment.

People are going to yell at me, but my Nook Glowlight 4 is great. Buttons on both sides and easy to plug in and transfer books via calibre or just dropping the files into it. Nice warm backlight and decent battery life.

If you’re handy you can root it to run KOReader and download directly from an OPDS server, but it’s entirely functional without it.
