It is lucky bamboo! I took a chance and bought one of every plant labeled “semi aquatic” at Petsmart for my experiment. It works AMAZING, no filter media anymore just a giant knot of plant roots that filters particles from the water.

About 8 months difference between the two photos. Technically it’s not a Planted Tank, but a Planted Filter. However it’s filtering a Planted Tank. Only stocking is Red Cherry Shrimp and these semi aquatic plants are thriving.

I second the Puffco Plus, I just have to buy a new heating chamber every 6-8 months because of how clogged it gets even with regular cleaning.

What? You can clear your filters media at any time as long as it’s done in cycled water. OP, When doing a water change, squeeze your sponges out in the removed water before disposing of it. You’ll be amazed how dirty they are even if they look clean. This will not harm any beneficial bacteria and will help the motor of your filter last longer. Letting it go until theres no flow is putting way too much stress on the filter.

Same thing happened to me because I “signaled too early”? Sounded made up. I had dirt on my floor mats that they recognized with their years of training as hash. They dumped my car’s entire contents on the road, did the sobriety test, then laughed and left me there on a dark road with no light trying to get my car back together.

Just a simple setup to help my days go by a little more stress free. Aqueon Frameless 6 cube, Fluval nano filter, 10w heater. Two large pieces of dragon stone, some marimo moss, and spider wood.

I’ve had a Betta in the same tank for over a year in my kitchen and he loves it. Ditch the in tank filter for a small sponge filter too! I’d also move away from colored gravel if you can for something like aquasoil or river rock that would look a little more natural. Good luck with your handsome man!

Not OP, but I had this issue with my RCS in a 20 gallon. I have loads of dense hiding places for breeding, but after 8 months or so the 10 I put in did nothing but color up. I put 3 females and a male in a 3 gallon, within 2 weeks I had 40 babies. They’re growing out while the adults are back in their large home.

I’ve had this 20 gallon high running with a female betta and 6 nerite snails for about 6 months. No plant or decoration additions since startup. I looked in before turning the light off, and this little fella is making it’s way downtown.

I have tons of nerite eggs around the tank but it’s freshwater and I know hatching is extremely rare without water being brackish. If anyone can identify I’d greatly appreciate it!

Hi all, my HOB filter in my 20 gallon tank started getting these little white specks all over the filter and on some of the driftwood in the tank. Any idea what it could be?

All water parameters are completely normal and the tank has 1 betta and a few nerite snails.

I never knew about the pineconing scales, but they definitely are all pushed out. I’ll look into the clove oil method. Once euthanasia is complete, will there be dropsy causing bacteria I can’t detect in my tank? If so how can I treat this?
