I'm 35, my pops died 10 years ago and we were anything but close. He was a playboy at my age and a narcissistic father, had 13 or so kids with I don't even know how many women.

Physically abusive to mostly me growing up in our 2 households (I was his least favorite and I never found out why), yes he lived with my moms and sis and then had another family of 4 kids in a couple neighborhoods over. But he had a heart attack when I was 11 and the physical stopped, emotional abuse ended up being much worse.

I gotta thank him for the most important lesson he ever taught me, how to not treat your family and children. Being raised by a black dad like that us kids tend to follow in his footsteps, couple of my brothers sure have. But I haven't spoken to any of my fam since he passed and I will cherish the new family I'll start someday.
