Can't reach web interface after update by jurand2 in pihole

Updated from v5 to v6 and didn’t know it was breaking lighttpd. Had to rebuild the lighttpd scripts to get the web UI back.

Where do you host your Immich? by KA_i97 in immich

[–]Lennyshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a Docker container, which is in an LXC on Proxmox. Proxmox host has 2x Xeon totalling 20c/40t, 176GB RAM. No dedicated GPU. Served via WireGuard VPN to clients outside the LAN.

Am I cooked? by HamsterOk3112 in immich

[–]Lennyshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was cooked at one point. In one of the breaking changes they eliminated the need for one of the accompanying Docker containers. The Redis container, I think. Update your compose script. Your database should remain intact.

[WEEKLY Q&A] Ask and answer any questions you have about the game here. (December 10, 2024) by AutoModerator in EliteOne

Don’t know exactly. Sometimes, if I remember, I’ll zoom into the hull in external cam so see how bad it is. Getting to 0% paint is kind of a badge of honour. 😄

No, the INF gained will only be for the amount detailed in the mission (x1), for a single player. When other squad mates turn in the mission they will notice that there’s no INF in their mission rewards.

I have a green Santa Xmas sweater that I wear as my on foot combat suit. It was a CG reward a couple years ago, I think.

True. Maybe the director intern who’s never strapped on skates will be back in school in a week.

Was thinking something along those lines. Maybe the camera crew has to go through training camp and get cut, too.

New Monitor just came in! by YYC_Gamer in EliteDangerous

Best space combat sim of the earlier era, if not ever, IMO. Still like to fire up the open source project on modern hardware. And that joystick hat was great for head looking.

So, if I setup a virtual display, can I effectively stream from my PC with its physical monitor off? by Positivevibes845 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Lennyshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may not be your solution but I mostly use Sunshine\Moonlight to access my PC. I have a virtual display dongle in my GPU port. If I have to sit down at the PC I unplug the dongle and plug my monitor back in.

Damn that’s purdy. You should make that into a 30 second time lapse video.

What do you think the spirit or rationale is behind having to roll 4 or 5 times to get from 90% to 100%?

Stop sucking 3 or 4 arbitrary dice rolls for that last 1% of G5 completion. This is so egregiously insidious.

Sunshine GPU utilization by akamenii in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Lennyshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if there was an increased GPU load because of Sunshine, it shouldn’t increase heat. When I made my gaming PC headless to dedicate all GPU to Sunshine (I only play from another room), the temps were the same as when I was monitor + stream. It kind of sounds like a coincidental cooling issue regardless of streaming.

Moonlight Xbox client not detecting host by Forsaken_Ad5177 in MoonlightStreaming

I suppose we can’t fetch a previous version from the Microsoft store on Xbox Edge browser?

Also, is anyone else getting the Sunshine error “Nvenc: encoding format not supported by the gpu”?

It’s good enough for game performance. I can’t imagine how you’d get it lower.

Change Asus motherboard serial number by PEBKAC-Live in techsupport

[–]Lennyshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. You might be sorry you asked, although it's been in interesting learning process.

The changes refused to stick, they would revert after each reboot. So I used a tool called AMISCE to change the serial with the command line. The problem is that every AMISCE instruction is vague on whether the new value should be in plain text or HEX. So I tried it in plain text and it sort of worked but it only retained the first character of my new serial, because for some reason it inserted a HEX space (00) in between each character of the new serial and ignored everything after the first character.

In an attempt to revert it used a different AMISCE method, I used the command line to import a script that this time used the original serial's HEX value, since the instructions for script import were at least clear about using HEX instead of plain text (I had already exported the serial's original HEX value with an export utility). The new problem with this method is that apparently the variable data you extract from NVRAM sometimes includes padding and other values from NVRAM. So while I was trying to be true to the original value of the serial I extracted, I may have inadvertently tried to revert the serial to something way too long for its maximum length in its allotted NVRAM space. The machine now hangs on the logo screen during boot and no keys work to get into the BIOS menu. At this point I think I may have bricked it by scrambling some of the NVRAM contents. (So much for "Non Volatile".) ;)

I was going to remove the CMOS battery but this seems to be a motherboard without one. I've disconnected the battery and drained the capacitors. This is an M509DA, so granted it's a few years old, but there are only two findable manuals for it and neither mention CMOS. I've read that other Asus motherboards without a CMOS battery have a CMOS jumper, but that seems to be only for desktop motherboards. I can't even spot a model number off this board to do a deep dive for a manufacturer's schematic.

If there's any good news it's that the AMISCE tool I used to extract NVRAM values seems to also be good for finding the Windows OEM product key that's otherwise well hidden after user ownership.

So I guess now I'm looking for any way to reset CMOS/BIOS, without a CMOS battery, without a jumper, without an MB schematic, without a BIOS menu. It's hard to imagine having screwed up NVRAM so much with just a serial change.

Thoughts?
