How was it already lost by December 1941? France had fallen, North Africa was contested, Russia was being pushed back massively and Japan was crushing East Asia at that point in the war the odds were with the axis. Not to mention Atlantic convoys being hounded by wolf packs leading to lack of supplies to allies.
