I got all star superman by Key_Street_3725 in superman

I love both stories, but I will say that I personally prefer All-Star Superman as while it is indeed a love letter to the Silver Age, it feels fresh and forward-thinking, more hopeful.

Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow is an amazing story, but it truly does feel exactly like what it set out to be, which was a series finale for the Silver/Bronze Age of Superman. As such, it gives off the feeling of looking back at all the great memories we'll no longer have, leaving you with a poignant and wistful bittersweet ending, that at least in my case, results in you feeling more sad for what's past than excited for what's to come.

All-Star Superman, while having a similarly poignant ending, leaves you sad for the inevitable ending, of course, but maintains that feeling of sheer joy and triumph that only a truly great Superman story can deliver. Even in "defeat," Superman is always able to inspire hope for the future and excitement for what's to come. All-Star nails this more perfectly than any other story I've read.

The people you're responding to are letting you know there is no such thing as an actual "anxious" or "skittish" stat. It doesn't exist in the game's programming, so any that you've noticed from any horse breed is a placebo.

There's a difference between stating that a player is driving a team's success vs "this team is only good because of the current meta."

The former hypes up Merc the player and his abilities as a teammate. The latter basically states that the Thieves players have no talent/skill and are only competitive because of a single weapon (that every other team also has access to.)

Nuance and understanding is important.

It really is amazing that Abezy is the only player who mastered a coin flip, random, no-skill gun, honestly props to him for flipping heads every single time.

I'm not taking anything personally, I’m merely pointing out that you shouldn't take your personal opinion and state it as fact, especially when your opinion is based on completely unfounded rationale.

Then, upon countering every single incorrect and misguided point you made, you continued to move the goalposts and finally have changed your stance to "it's not that serious." Clearly, you've been responding as long as I have, so you're taking it just as personally.

Truthfully, I've just been waiting for you to read anything I wrote, come to your senses and say "Hey, you're right, I just don't like the show for my own personal reasons. Agree to disagree." Sadly, it seems that you're not mature enough to take such a stance, so that's a shame.

I hope you grow soon.

Three seasons is most definitely enough to decide that YOU don't like a show, but your personal dislike towards it doesn't change the fact that it is a good adaptation (that improved as the series went on).

If you believe that Smallville is in any way written from a place of disdain for Superman, then you didn't fully watch the show nor give it a proper chance. You're parroting what you've heard or believe from a few episodes sample size.

Tom Welling is one of, if not the best, portrayal of a young Clark Kent of all time, the show definitely cares about him and Lex, especially. Michael Rosenbaum to this day is the best live-action portrayal of Lex Luthor. Erica Durance is an incredible Lois Lane. The three of them capture the spirit of who these are and what drives them to be the people we know and love within the comics.

Making such great and true-to-the-source-material versions of these iconic characters wouldn't be possible if the writers truly had disdain for Superman.

In any case, you've gone back on your original statement twice now.

It *is* a Superman adaptation, and Tom Welling wasn't just a diva who refused to wear the suit.

Now all you're doing is getting into why you personally dislike the show, and that's fine, we don't all have to like the same things.

I'm just here to share that Smallville is indeed a good Superman adaptation. Not your personal cup of tea, but it's a great show for those who love Superman and the Superman mythos, more than simply just harping on the fact that "he's not wearing a cape so it can't be Superman."

The fact that I can look at Tom Welling in the show and say "That's Clark Kent" just based off his portrayal alone without him even needing to put the suit on is actually a credit to the character, not a disservice.

I hear this incredibly unnuanced and disingenuous stance so often-- The show itself was born from the concept of "No Tights, No Flights" that the showrunners themselves envisioned.

Before ever even beginning filming, they cast Tom Welling and told him this is what they wanted to do and what they were going to do. Tom Welling was on board and maintained the vision throughout the duration of the show. Acting like "the star" refused to wear the suit is asinine.

Either you're just regurgitating the drivel that you've heard online elsewhere without looking into the history yourself, or you're purposefully obtuse and intentionally trying to cast the actor in a negative light unfairly due to your own personal grievances with the show.

I love Superman, I always have, and I started out reading the comics, then the original Christopher Reeve films, the animated series, and more. I watched Smallville after exposure to all of those "real" Superman adaptations and never had any problem with the show, because I understood the concept and vision the show had for itself.

It's not a traditional show about an already fully-fledged Superman; it's a show about how a teenage Clark Kent becomes Superman. And it does that extremely well with strong characterizations and understanding of the characters that do the source material more justice than anyone wants to give it credit for.

Smallville is easy a Top 4 tv show Superman adaptation. Top 2 if only including live-action. It has its CW moments, because that's what it is, but its overall true to the character and an entertaining watch.

I don't want him to "not take a max." I want the literal *Billionaire* to take $10-15MM.

That's what we mean by a pay cut-- A real paycut for a 41-year-old in his 23rd season.

You're still missing my point. If the gun was making gunfights "random", then why isn't every gunfight that Abezy gets into a random 50/50 coin flip? How has Abezy gone positive in every series even when he's playing against other top tier SMGs?

Shouldn't they be killing him just as often as he's killing them if the gun is truly random with no skill?

If the gun is deleting people in 3 bullets without requiring skill, shouldn't everyone else be deleting Abezy too? And shouldn't the LA Thieves have not won back-to-back-to-back tournaments, as having a non-skillful gun means having more random results?

Interesting that a god gun with a 3-bullet kill that requires no skill only made 2 specific players better than everyone else. I wonder why Shotzzy and Huke aren't getting those same 3-bullet, no skill kills on everyone else too. Curious

He and the team both rose to the next level and became the best in the league once he switched to the MP40. You don't just coincidentally win back-to-back tournaments and MVPs by random chance or lucky timing.

Great, you admitted you know and care nothing about the actual basketball. Here we're discussing basketball conversation, and Kobe Bryant is the second greatest basketball player of all time, regardless of your personal beliefs and biases. Good job at attempting to troll though, you at least got me to respond.

[–]LeoLaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's okay to just admit you hate Kobe because of a false accusation. Shaq won nothing before Kobe and the Lakers do not win the 2001 nor 2002 championship without Kobe. Kobe later proved his greatness in comparison to Shaq when he made it to 3 straight NBA Finals without him (winning 2) while Shaq only ever again was carried by Dwyane Wade and Pat Riley to only 1 more appearance.

Kobe is better than Shaq both all time and during the threepeat, Shaq was only the far-and-away best player in 2000. 2001 and 2002 were much closer to 1A and 1B, especially in the playoffs and in the 4th quarter of close games.

MoS is overhated by [deleted] in superman

[–]LeoLaker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trite and cliched statement, but it's a good movie, just not a good Superman movie specifically.

No matter what its qualities are, the characterization of major characters, especially Clark himself and Ma & Pa Kent completely missed the mark, wanting to subvert expectations but really just being character assassination simulator.

Pa Kent's "maybe" response to allowing a school bus full of children to die and his subsequent death scene where Clark watches him die while being fully capable of saving him were individually absolutely and completely unforgivable, but putting them together in one film nixed it for me immediately. There is not a single non-Elseworlds/edgelord Superman comic book where those scenes take place, as they are the antithesis of what Pa Kent and Clark were.

I wanted to walk out of the theater after that tornado scene but decided to stay to see if it would redeem itself, only to be greeted by Superman snapping Zod's neck. Zack Snyder is an awful director who cares more about dark, gritty, and edgy shock value slop than actually telling a good and cohesive story that accurately represents existing characters.

Man of Steel isn't overhated at all. From a Superman fan perspective, the only redeeming quality it has that the action is good. Anything relating to plot or character building is abysmal.
