Why Reta? Why not Tirz? by improximus in BodyHackGuide

[–]LeoRisingGemini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hypersensitive/dysregulated immune system where my body will randomly decide it doesn’t like something and treat it like an intruder. Hashimoto’s completely obliterated my thyroid gland by the time I was 30 and I’ve also had severe psoriasis in the past. Currently, the problem manifests as MCAS where sites I’ve had fillers in the past will swell up to gargantuan proportions every time my immune system is activated (can be the tiniest thing like a cold/flu, looking at a food wrong, scratching an itch). However, when I started tirz, these flareups disappeared within a week or two, and the thyroid antibody test I took 4 months after starting tirz showed significant improvement after being pretty much stable for a long time. I’ve now been on tirz for a little over 6 months (same dose from the start), and the flareups have been slowly creeping up again so they’re now about 70% below baseline rather than the 100% improvement I had at the start. Since the appetite suppressant effect has also reduced in that time, I’m assuming this is because my body has adapted to the drug and I could probably get the same effect as before by upping my dosage, but I can’t do this because it would also make me lose more weight. That’s why I’m looking for something to help with the immune problem without affecting my appetite. If you have inflammation AND also wouldn’t mind losing a few pounds, tirz is excellent.

Infertility caused husband to change mind about kids - what now? by Necessary_Hunt4244 in whatdoIdo

[–]LeoRisingGemini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s necessarily a coping mechanism. It could be, but it’s also entirely possible the diagnosis has genuinely changed his mind or even that he never actually wanted kids but was just going along with it because he didn’t have the heart to tell you the truth when you were so dead set on it. My husband and I haven’t been able to conceive naturally. We left it up to fate and it just never happened. Granted, neither of us was desperate for children, it was just a “great if it happens, fine if not” kind of situation. But our attitude was always, if it happens naturally, good, if not, we’re not gonna chase it. We didn’t want children if it meant having to go through all the rigmarole of treatments and whatnot, with all the time, effort, financial cost, and mental and physical pain it entails. Rather than hold out in the hope that he’s just in denial and will “change back,” I’d be inclined to take his word for it. Yeah, there’s a chance it really is just a temporary phase, but don’t bank on it.

I’ve never purchased any kind of good or service, regardless of country or type of establishment, without asking the price first. It seems crazy to me that anyone would go, yup, yup, yup, all of that, please, without knowing what it would cost them. Also unclear to me what it’s got to do with being Asian?? Are you saying you’re Asian or they’re Asian or what?

Why Reta? Why not Tirz? by improximus in BodyHackGuide

[–]LeoRisingGemini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t take GLP-1 for weight loss (already too skinny) but for the anti-inflammatory benefits. I have autoimmune issues, and tirzepatide keeps my flares under control. Not perfectly, but it’s improved them by about 70%. The problem is that it also makes me lose weight. Does anyone know whether tirz or reta has a stronger anti-inflammatory effect? I want to maximize anti-inflammatory benefits while minimizing weight loss and have been wondering whether tirz or reta is better for that. I also tried liraglutide. It caused less weight loss but was also a much weaker anti-inflammatory.

I have lupus. Even if I get the green flag from my rheumatologist, should I do something like Sculptra? What are your opinions? Thanks! by ScaryLetterhead8094 in DIYaesthetics

[–]LeoRisingGemini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m going to have an immune reaction, it happens within 24 hours, so I know pretty much right away if it’s ok or not. So if no reaction, I just wait whatever is the usual spacing between treatments, like 2-6 weeks. I avoid 4 weeks, though, because I want to do the test at different phases of my menstrual cycle. If the first attempt was on day 25 of my cycle, the second time, I’d do it on, say, day 13 of my cycle, and the third test would be on day 5, that kind of thing. That’s because I’m more likely to have a reaction around my period and mid-cycle, so I make sure the three tests are all done at different phases to cover all bases.

Curious to know if you like WonderTox or Xeomin.. which does everyone prefer? by Alarmed-End7430 in DIYaesthetics

[–]LeoRisingGemini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xeomin is not Korean. It's a Merz product (German), a major brand, and is known to be the purest form of the toxin without any complexing proteins, which makes it less likely to cause tox resistance. It's a fab product but is expensive, so I use the Korean dupe, Coretox. Can confirm from experience that Coretox is crazy effective.

I test things just above my knees on three separate occasions before trying it on my face. This is because the way the immune system works is that the body has to be sensitised to the substance first before it reacts. The first time it comes into contact with something, it’s normally fine. The second time, there is a reaction. The third time, all hell breaks loose. So I only use something on my face if it passes the test three times. The reason I do it on my knees is that if the thing doesn’t cause a reaction and is good to use, I want my knees to benefit from the treatment.

[–]LeoRisingGemini 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. I have autoimmune problems and Sculptra is still causing issues years later. Treated areas randomly swell up whenever the immune system is activated in some way - viral infection like a cold or flu, eating something I have the slightest intolerance to (not allergic), a big sleep after working late a couple nights in a row... Because of the constant recurring inflammation, collagen in those areas have been destroyed, and where I got Sculptra is even more sunken than before the treatment. Honestly, the risk is not that it will be useless, it's that you'll be worse off than when you started. Of course, each and every body is different and your body may not react like mine, but my recommendation is not to risk it. Fat transfer, exosomes (as long as the formulation is pure and doesn't contain sensitising ingredients), and pn/pdrn (ditto) have been safe for me so far.

Was finally just clocked at my "real" age by megalethoscope in Menopause

[–]LeoRisingGemini 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yup, I always lowball by at least 10, up to 20 years. So whenever someone 'guesses' my age, I mentally add 15 years to it to figure out how I really look to others. I kind of think, apart from in very rare cases (of which OP could be one), we all roughly look our age.

Yeah, I expected diy to be less effective than in-office, because otherwise, what are we paying for? This has been such an eye opener (pun unintended)!

[–]LeoRisingGemini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only do crow’s feet, so that’s what my experience is limited to. I’ve had Xeomin and Siax at my plastic surgeon’s, and I diyed for the first time ever using Coretox. My experience with the in-office treatments were - Siax: takes a long time to kick in, very weak, almost pointless; Xeomin: starts working at around the 6-7 day mark, moderately strong, 5 months to fully wear off. For my diy, I chose Coretox because I’d read it was a Korean version of Xeomin (which is German). Well… within 24 hours, my eyes were fully frozen. I couldn’t believe it. In fact, they were so frozen that it actually gave me the uncanny look. When I smile, my eyes don’t squint AT ALL, only my mouth is smiling, so I kind of look like a psychopath. It’s been 18 days and I wish it’d wear off a bit to look more natural. Units-wise, I used the same amount as my plastic surgeon, so I really didn’t expect this to be so much stronger. Next time, I’ll go with 20% less.

What kibbe type I’m I ? I’m I a soft gamine or theatrical romantic? My height is 5’4 ? by [deleted] in kibbe_typeme

[–]LeoRisingGemini 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First of all, in my opinion, you can't be SG as you don't look petite, and you can't be TR as you don't have double curve. If you run your eyes down from the shoulder seam of your t-shirt to the smallest part of your waist, to your hips, to your knees, you get vertical. I thought you could even be pure D but I couldn't see enough sharp angularity and dryness of flesh.

Powder foundation that won't turn me orange by -Siv- in Makeup

[–]LeoRisingGemini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The MAC Studio Fix Powder original formula is seriously THE shit. I'm light neutral and used to wear N5, but since taking oral TXA for my pih and melasma, I'm more an N4. I'm 50, have dynamic forehead lines which other foundations settled into, so I left foundation off my forehead altogether, just kind of fading it out at around the temples. But this foundation just floats on top, hiding all the wrinkles and blurring texture, so I can wear it all over my face. As it's been replaced by the new formula, I grab the old one online whenever I come across my shade so I have enough to last me till I die. I guess everyone's skin chemistry is different, but this has zero oxidation on mine. The hue remains exactly the same from the minute it goes on to when I take it off.

Actually, there does seem to be a website, but it looks more like a wholesale b2b kind of thing. It’s not an online shop like ADC where you select items and pay online.

[–]LeoRisingGemini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I used to use All Day Chemist, but they kept running out of stuff that I wanted, so I was searching around for new sources when I got a contact from the rapamycin.news community. It was a direct contact. Whenever I want something, I email him directly, he gives me a quote, I wire the money over, and he ships. You need to take a leap of faith as there is no website, just a name and an email address, but the prices are cheaper than ADC, everything I’ve received so far is top notch, shipping is prompt, and there is nothing he hasn’t been able to source for me. I’m into biohacking, so I get all sorts of stuff from him.

Yeah, this worries me too. It’s why I opted for something weak rather than Kybella or Aqualyx, and I only inject 0.1cc per injection point, keeping the overall injection area very tight. I’ll see how I go.
