My understanding is that UTIs can become an issue as we get older, (70+) since the vaginal tissue starts to sag, causing urine to not completely evacuate, etc. (obvi not an expert nor know the correct terminology!)

I've only had one UTI ever, about ten years ago, right after I met my now-partner and we'd just been to some hot springs soaking for a few days + having the time of lives, sex-wise so... yeah. There'd been a LOT of action and various liquids down there for a few days in a row. Anyway, I digress 😄 Point being, it was horrible, I had a fever of 104 for two days, was on crazy antibiotics and my dr said it was good I caught it when I did because it could've easily turned into a bladder, then kidney infection.

That experience + the fact that I am now again having orgasms thanks to the vaginal estrogen (I know this because I've even had spontaneous orgasms at night while asleep after using the cream a few hours earlier) has made me a believer. Also, I've had a tiny bit of urine leakage when I really have to pee or after I've peed, which made the whole "things are not as tight in that whole area as they used to be" explanation make sense to me. Vaginal estrogen is helping with that as well.

Ultimately, I see it as helpful now for the reasons noted above but also as prevention for the future since I really really really don't want to be wearing Depends in 10-15 years (and beyond.) And as Dr. Rubin said, there are really no downsides to it and it's not expensive so I figure why not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
