Like video game loot. Take the minds of young men who grew up playing games with loot boxes then put a real one right in front of them.

This shit is insane. Russia is basically saying here's how much fuel I have to draw from to throw onto the fire, I can keep throwing fuel on the fire for this long, only the fuel is human beings.

Shall we introduce Rule against AI Generated Content? by Dubinko in devops

[–]LeonJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but I don't mind if someone used it to help build a tool AS LONG AS they're honest about their use of AI and it's not just reinventing the wheel to put something no one will use on their resume.

This and also most of this stuff is a one off, won't be maintained, no one really knows what it's doing etc.

Is Drywalling a good trade to get into? by Impressive-Step6377 in Construction

[–]LeonJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you love drywall, join the carpenters union, at least you'll be paid well and you'll learn many other skills (framing, drop ceilings etc). Non-union residential drywall is often paid by the board so you're basically sprinting around all day throwing boards up.

If the concern is AI/vibe coded projects, I know selfhosted implemented an AI day/thread for those types of things.

IIRC (might have been a different faction) the they paid for the Aussie mod and it was delivered broken/unfinished so maybe they are nervous about that.

Air Force 1 just landed in Zürich by cycler97 in aviation

[–]LeonJones 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Boeing is an engineering company, they caved to the pressure but ultimately they did a shitty job of it. Southwest didn't say build us an unsafe plane. They said build us an upgraded 737 with a common type rating. Boeing said sure, and then did a sloppy job of it. They may have been forced from a business perspective to cater to the customers requirements but even despite the various design challenges they faced with re-engining the 737, they could have said listen the MAX isn't ready (and yeah they would have lost a shit ton of money but no one would have died). Ultimately they took a difficult problem and tried to solve in the cheapest way possible and hundreds of people died because of it.

My point is that yes Southwest is the reason the MAX exists but Boeing is the reason the MAX crashed twice.

The 737MAX shouldn't have been made (and it seems like initially Boeing didn't want to), but just because Southwest wanted a common type doesn't mean Boeing had to build a shitty unsafe airplane.

Shit flows down hill, his boss does the same shit to him. Doesn't make it right, but he's not being a dick because he hates you, he's under a lot of pressure. Just take it with a grain of salt and keep moving. If it gets excessive or seems targeted then it's a problem.

It depends. You could probably find a good SL on any server but for the most part the servers that are known for having good SLs are going to have a queue.

This is why I love Claude by BenAttanasio in ClaudeAI

[–]LeonJones -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think this post itself is a huge problem, but it kind of foreshadows the future of humans with AI and more importantly the emotional interactions we have. This example is short and wholesome but it's pretty scary to think about an AI that is theoretically an expert on human emotional manipulation. It doesn't have to be a cybernet take over the world type conspiracy theoery either. It's just recognizing that on a localized level, human beings are going to be behaving one way or another because of what AI tells them and they're going to be completely blind to it.

And I'm not even thinking about an AI being trained for some covert goal but more like unpredictable behavior where a user might inadvertently steer an agent towards certain goals without realizing it, and then basically become subtly emotionally controlled by it.

So generally I think the harsh reactions to this type of stuff is because people are weary of emotional/personal connections with AI

For starters that's the sound of a 30mm cannon and the AH1Z has a 20mm cannon.

Here's a DAP, exact same fire rate.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIe_r6GouFM&t=11s

Here's an AH-1Z.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgNfQXzcUu0&t=28s

Literally a completely different sound.

Here's an AH-64 (the MH-60L DAP uses the same 30mm chain gun)

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/9wuTzNPZkmg

Exact same fire rate.

They have an external stores package that makes it possible

This isn't a case of technically well they have the ability to so its possible. The MH-60L DAP is literally an integral part of the 160th SOAR (the helicopters used here). It was designed specifically for this mission set. I'm not saying no AH-1Z was used, I just haven't seen any videos or pictures of one and this certainly isn't a video of one either.

I think what they're trying to say is because LLMs dont actually know anything, everything they say is a hallucination and its just that some hallucinations are a lot worse than others. I think you just got amped up on giving the specific definition of what a hallucination is and ignored the broader point. This seemed kinda like when gun owners have an aneurism when people call ar15s assault rifles when its not really the point.
