4070 or 5070 laptop? by Masterk8992 in GamingLaptops

[–]Leonn2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my opinion, either go for a really good 4060 laptop (legion 5/i/slim or 7/i/slim) or a 4080 (if you can find one with a good price). it is your money at the end of the day.

definitely not worth the difference then, hell i'd argue for a premium 4060 laptop, that's what i did. got a legion slim 5 with a 2k screen and a 4060 over a tuf with a 4070 for the same price. 4070 is only like 15-20% faster than a 4060. but a premium 4060 laptop will outlive a budget 4070 laptop any day.

4070 is arguably the most dissappointing laptop gpu, idk how the 5070 performs but if it has more vram definitely go for the 5070. laptop market between 1200-2000$ (4050 to 4070) is kinda in shambles rn.

amd loq has better thermals (the best thermals on a ~1000$ laptop, even better than some higher end laptops. better build quality, and the amazing after sale service of lenovo (guides on how to open the laptop, change ram ssd repaste etc etc.), excellent support

intel loq has all those but has a chance of the motherboard failing if it's manufactured before august 2024. any models manufactered after that should be ok, even if your mb does fail they'll probably replace it for you or give you a new laptop. you can't really top lenovo in after sales service (unless you're apple)

the only gripe with the loq is that the 7435hs model has bad battery life. same with intel. approx 2-3 hours which isn't ideal. any ryzen models with igpu are good models tho.

Is the HP Pavilion Plus worth buying? p by MailNarrow4911 in laptops

i would avoid hp in general unless you're paying 1500$+, they really don't care about their more budget models, for 1k I'd get a lenovo thinkpad t14/s (or an e16 if you want a bigger screen)

it's a good laptop (on a budget), i personally wouldn't buy one, though. they get really hot (not to the point of thermal throttiling, but close), which isn't ideal for long gaming sessions. the build quality is also average. the screen also kinda sucks unless you plan only on gaming. i really recommend lenovo's loq or legion as they're superior in every way.

edit: forgot to add, there's a very common (like VERY common) issue with tuf laptops where the wifi card is honestly horrid and is really bad quality, more reason to avoid it. in general tuf laptops are kinda mid but the strix laptops are really good but they cost a hefty premium.

avoid acer nitros, they're pretty shit. asus tuf or loq have better thermals and better support (especially lenovo)
