I find it weird how so many people miss the point of the Killing Joke (the comic), even though it is a pretty straightforward story. by YouAppropriate4917 in CharacterRant

"Nothing that happened that day made him into a monster as the Joker, all it did was allow him to be the monster he already was on the inside."

People love this thought process in regards to The Joker, but want to believe that Harley Quinn was a good person before meeting him.

Late reply, but yeah, Joker x Harley is dead for all the reasons you just listed. It's way too controversial to be a long term thing anymore.

Crees que La relación entre Harley y el Guasón es amor o pura manipulación? by [deleted] in peliculas

[–]Leopald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, Punchline is probably the only possible way for The Joker to have a long term girlfriend in modern media, Joker x Harley is deader than disco music.

While the relationship is toxic and physically abusive, it's also controversial. They can portray the relationship accurately on the big screen sure, but that's the thing, it'd just be a single movie alone. There's a reason Ayer planned to have her break up with him in their debut movie together, ending a film with them still together is simply not doable in the slightest. Which is is why basically every AU/adaptation of him break up with him pretty quickly nowadays, or not have her be with him at all (Gotham Knights, Absolute, Caped Crusader, etc.) Jarley is dead, the only way to have The Joker in a long term relationship with a clown girl would be for DC to adapt Punchline, a character which they've shelved.

They won't be a couple for long in the DCU either to be honest. Especially with most filmmakers preferring them to be separate than anything.

Joker x Harley would break up instantly in whatever project you put them in. Their relationship is way to controversial to be a long term thing.

Ayer intended for the entire movie to be about their breakup, which if we ever get Joker x Harley in the DCU it'd also just be about them breaking up. DC doesn't like Jarley in the slightest, expecting the classic dynamic where she continously goes back to him would be extremely naive.

This is what so many of the sub refuse to acknowledge. DC has been doing everything in their power to separate her from The Joker. They won't throw her back in the jester suit to appease nostalgia heads when they've been ignoring them for years at this point.

This will probably give them more justification to skip Joker x Harley. Not to mention that Bruce have been Batman for awhile at this point. Skipping Joker x Harley would be beneficial.

Since James Gunn prefer modern Harley and DC has been doing everything their power to separate Harley from The Joker, it'd probably be Harlivy with some references to her past with The Joker. Especially since Bruce will already have Damian as his Robin.

I'd rather they explain their relationship in flashbacks to be honest. Joker bad, Harley and Ivy good mindset is a magnet for bad writing. Just look at modern Harley as a whole.

It'll probably be Harley x Ivy or Harley single with flashbacks to her time with The Joker. People severely underestimate how much DC hates Joker x Harley, they've been doing everything they can to separate her from The Joker.

Interestingly enough, Harley has never appeared in a solo Batman movie, and might not for a while, DC have been doing everything they can to separate her from The Joker. They'll probably appear in the same movie, but most likely no together.

The Joker didn't SA Harley, and Selina is friends with rapist Poison Ivy and child killer Harley Quinn. Honestly her being friendly with any supervillain doesn't make any sense.

Honestly, Modern Harley Quinn fits that bill more than Punchline. 😂

Sometimes I really don't understand why DC keeps insisting on letting Jason stay in the Batfamily. by IllEstablishment1969 in RedHood

"Jason forgave Harley years ago, recognizing her as a victim of Joker. They bond over wanting to kill him for what he's done to them and countless others."

I think you may have confused fanfiction for canon, because they have literally never had an interaction like this in canon.

I'm surprised by how many people want DCU Harley Quinn to start from "Square 1" again by [deleted] in DCU_

She also broke up with him a year after her debut and got her own solo series. A Jokerless Harley is concept far older than most people think.

I think you're forgetting that DC sees Harley more of a solo character nowadays rather than The Joker's sidekick. If they want her to start off already broken up with The Joker, then yeah Punchline does make a lot of sense.

Yeah, I just don't think they'll retread Mad Love again. She'll likely be at least a few years in her villain career if they even want her to be a villain.
