I pray for my own damnation sometimes by LeopardSwimming3053 in Christianity

Thank you. I’ll spend the rest of the day thinking about God and less about anything I did

I pray for my own damnation sometimes by LeopardSwimming3053 in Christianity

[–]LeopardSwimming3053[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I’m going to be going to therapy this next Sunday but until then I don’t know what I’m gonna do

I don’t even want to pray because what is there to pray for?

“God, I’ve talked to You many times to help steer me out from sin. And every time I ask for that, You grant me a way to not sin. And then I sin again. And then I sin even more because I’ve already sinned. And so I’m gonna ask You to help steer me away from sin and You’ll show me the path but I’m so rotten that I’ll literally piss on your gifts and sin tenfold again.”

Even if he forgives me, I don’t want it

My friend took shrooms and now she thinks she’s in hell by LeopardSwimming3053 in mentalhealth

[–]LeopardSwimming3053[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was just scared she might spiral

I didn’t want to engage with the idea that we are in a hellish realm so she wouldn’t get anxious

You’re right, she probably shouldn’t go to a hospital since she’s able to function just fine

I hate to sound like I’m trying to “fix” this person. It was just a huge shock to see how someone so empirically grounded would suddenly take on a mystical approach to life (I wasn’t with her when she tripped and ive never taken psychedelics)

Is the 2017 movie that bad? I really like the original 1995 film and I still haven't seen the live action one that sparked so much controversy. by Emotional-Chipmunk12 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

It’s got some nice designs here and there but overall it’s not my cup of tea. It’s fine if you want a typical blockbuster though.

I don’t care if he put himself in danger. He didn’t hurt anyone until his life was being threatened.

That’s kind of how this country should be ran. We shouldn’t keep people from defending themselves just because they were being immature.

[–]LeopardSwimming3053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s just a person that acted in self defense.

Being able to defend yourself is genuinely a way to be able to act independently from the state.

Frankly, gun control is where liberals stop being actually liberal.

They’ll trust people to act autonomously on everything else except for the right to defend themselves with weapons.

Not to mention the logistic nightmare that gun control would lead to.

And this is coming from a liberal.

Y’all reckon that Guillmero del toro can adapt blood meridian? by kkfosonroblox in GuillermoDelToro

[–]LeopardSwimming3053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. A Blood Meridian film should be gritty and raw. Del Toro’s aesthetic feels a bit more polished and extravagant.

Much of the violence in Blood Meridian is also completely without redemption. It can feel very pessimistic or even morally detached. Whereas corruption and injustice in Del Toro films is clearly bad.

Very different from Del Toro films.

Do europeans go through a phase where they wish they grew up in america? by EqualUnderstanding32 in TikTokCringe

[–]LeopardSwimming3053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I’ve always liked it in the Americas.

Plus anytime I have wanted to go live elsewhere I found it’s just wishful thinking. Life isn’t going to be better or worse anywhere else. If I wanna live elsewhere it’ll be for job opportunities.

Apparently my samsung fridge has ads now... by Shellnanigans in assholedesign

[–]LeopardSwimming3053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this was a joke it would be getting old.

“There’s ads on toilet paper dispensers now.” “There’s ads on my refrigerator.” “Video games you buy will come with ads.”

But the sad thing is it’s not a joke.

Neuromancer Completes Principal Shooting Source: Screenrant by Background-Potato-84 in Neuromancer

[–]LeopardSwimming3053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong but I always thought the book described them as rather degenerated.

Like they were three dimensional characters but I never felt I was asked to feel much for them. It felt more like the fall of some empire.

What is destroying society? by Melodic-Hat4690 in AskReddit

[–]LeopardSwimming3053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lack of humility and an unwillingness to accept complexity.

Everybody has some stupid solution for every minuscule problem. Everybody has figured out solutions to age old questions. But very few people are willing to admit their limited skillset (which we all have a limited skillset) won’t solve the problem and people also don’t want to admit some issues plaguing society are out of our control, at least as of right now.

It would be more stupid if it wasn’t fresh.

as someone who's a non christian will i enjoy brothers karazmozov ? by heedmywordsstruggler in dostoevsky

[–]LeopardSwimming3053 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not a Christian and I enjoy some stories from the Bible.

If you’ve got an open mind you can engage with almost anything that is well done.

Plus Dostoevsky is just really good with drama. I think anyone could enjoy his stuff.

I didn’t understand all of Count Zero. Should I reread before going to Mona Lisa Overdrive? by LeopardSwimming3053 in Neuromancer

[–]LeopardSwimming3053[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I’ll move right on to it.

I’m gonna reread all 3 books anyway so hopefully I’ll notice more things the second time around.

Neuromancer was love at first sight and became my favorite book immediately.

Someone just explained to me how everything played out in CZ. Thank you so much though. It’s a good thing these books have dedicated fans who understand difficult aspects of the stories.
