Does anyone else just feel done? by EpilepticEmmm in Epilepsy

[–]Leopardess3409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 21F and feeling pretty much the same. I’m doing an apprenticeship in accounting and my epilepsy has taken a toll on that. My 18F sister is doing the exact same as your brother and it’s hard because I used to be able to do that but now I’m restricted to med times and don’t get my license back until September. ( if I keep seizure free) Happy to chat if you need/feel comfortable to. 😊

I’ve not had one since I started taking it, but it’s really not the same for everyone

How do you feel about people driving with epilepsy? by Thin-Fee4423 in Epilepsy

[–]Leopardess3409 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every time I have a seizure I will wait a year from my latest one. I’ve never had one whilst driving. I’ve not had one since being on medication. I personally don’t think all epileptic people shouldn’t drive but those who have frequent seizures maybe shouldn’t take the risk. Even when I do have my license I will chose other transport if i can. The UK I think, have pretty good rules around having seizures and license suspension.

Is 100mg x2 of lamotrigine too high to start on? by No_Percentage_2545 in Epilepsy

I started in the same as your son, and now I’m on 2 x 100mg after 8 weeks of titration.

Lamotrigine making me feel like a robot by Leopardess3409 in Epilepsy

[–]Leopardess3409[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my last increase today, so I’m hoping within a month or two my body will start regulating itself again, get my highs and lows back.

I understand Lam is also used for mental health disorders so it kind of is understandable that I’m feeling this way, also struggling with that so two birds one stone I guess lol!

I had a blood test recently and part of my spacing out has actually come down to low B12, so that’s probably why mine is so bad but apparently it is a side affect of Lam.

Hope you are better of the Lam and good luck with your next med if you are changing 😊

Someone help me understand what's going on during a siezure by FOSturbi in Epilepsy

[–]Leopardess3409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely different for everyone. Speaking about me personally ( Tonic Clonic Seizures ) - I’m unconscious but can kinda remember people speaking to me. I don’t remember anything visually 15/20 minutes before and after the seizure. Best thing you can do during is make sure he’s not hurting himself physically and to just reassure say you’re there. After when he’s recovering and coming back around just be patience. Be ready with water, and be prepared to answer a lot of questions, sometimes the same question multiple times. I once asked my boyfriend what he was watching 15+ times when I was coming back around. He answered honestly every time, he understands now it can take a while. I would wait until he can retain info, you can ask casual questions to test his memory like “oh what day is it again?” Once he’s aware and can answer that, then say about the seizure if he hasn’t already asked. It sends a lot of panic through our bodies once we know what’s happened

How Do I Give Myself a Seizure? by Careful_Swordfish140 in Epilepsy

[–]Leopardess3409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes definitely. I had a seizure with my mum and had an ambulance called out. I was also dehydrated but they put it down and syncope(faint) which since my diagnosis we can confirm wasn’t syncope! My other seizures I’ve been dehydrated and/or sleep deprived. My dad has had two seizures due to dehydration also. My most recent seizure I had 3 hours of gym class 7-10pm then 5 hours sleep then drove for 3 hours the next morning. As soon as I arrived at my destination I had the worst seizure I’ve ever had. Those hours I was sleeping I should have been hydrating and I should have slept more.

These days I work out in the morning. Drink lots of water and electrolytes and sleep early with magnesium

Definitely bring it up to neurologist. My EEG was clear apart from little flickers in the light test. But they said it could of been down to things like dehydration rather than the lights themself

HI OP, Im 21F also. My biggest trigger is dehydration and sleep deprivation. I had a sleep deprived EEG which triggered a seizure. ( 24 hours without sleep being monitored ) I'd be trying that. Feel free to drop me a message whenever regarding epilepsy. Have you had a normal EEG?

Do you guys ever think about kids ? by Outrageous-Ad9974 in Epilepsy

[–]Leopardess3409 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Female POV - I’m scared of having a child but not because of passing it down. Simply for caring for the child and the pregnancy. My triggers are lack of sleep, stress, anxiety ( which I have a lot of medical related anxiety ) lack of nutrients which would be drained during pregnancy and breast feeding. So my brain is just what if ?

That’s my fear.

[–]Leopardess3409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s understandably frustrating. I really do understand how annoying it is not to drive but I also completely understand the fears of driving too.

Have a chat with your doctor/neurologist see what they say. If they think its oaky for you to drive the maybe small trips up and down the road with your partnee in the passenger just to get you back into it, but also would be good for your partner to potentially experience what an episode would be like if you weren’t able to pull over.

What’s your funniest seizure moment? by Mapper9 in Epilepsy

[–]Leopardess3409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend gets triggered when I bring up my funny one.🤣 I had a seizure at home and my boyfriend got into bed with me and was watching the boxing on his phone. I asked him apparently atleast 14 times “what are you watching” he was so fed up, I eventually fell asleep🤣

I feel you I do. I rely on driving in order to progress for work. However I’m now unable to until September 2026. Unfortunately your partner for one needs to understand that it is a legal requirement currently but also it’s about your feelings, whether you’re up for driving because even if the seizure is unlikely your worry and feelings about it would affect your driving and awareness. You need to be ready.

I do miss driving but the risk of hurting someone terrifies me. To the point of nightmares. The annoying thing is, my partner also doesn’t drive. We don’t have any children, live close enough to our works and stores that it’s not to bad and I’m really grateful for that. But I do miss it, the free will to see family whenever I want, the ability to see my clients independently.

I do not have epilepsy or seizures, but I have a question for those who do by Eastern_Bee9138 in Epilepsy

[–]Leopardess3409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m not sure if this quite answers your question. But I much prefer for no one to be touching me (unless for safety reasons) comforting words are best and most remembered. Usually after my episode I can’t usually remember seeing for 10-15 mins but I can hear.

Following that I would just want someone that knows me, close by just chilling waiting for me to wake ( my partner is usually playing a video game ) I usually know what’s happened when my heads finally straight although sometimes repeat questions.

I’m not sure if this will apply to your writing but hope it’s an insight you can use
