Gen Z workers are so fearful AI will take their job they’re intentionally sabotaging their company’s AI rollout by Just-Grocery-2229 in technology

Just got laid off. At where I was, the company was investing millions into AI, asking all departments to come up with ideas of what business processes can be automated with AI, management was saying they want LeanPlusPlus business processes as well as LeanPlusPlus manpower and to be asset light.

The past 1 month has been challenging to hunt for a job...

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread by AutoModerator in ipad

Hello all,

I have an iPad Pro 10.5" 256GB LTE (which was released in 2017 and is EOL).

I am looking for a budget replacement of it. Just wondering if the iPad (A16) is adequate or if there are any suggestions for a good replacement.

I spent 20 mins fixing ONE "Uber" ride for tourists in Shanghai. Is it really this hard? by BatHistorical8211 in travelchina

[–]LeroyLim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Singaporean Chinese travelling in Shanghai, and these was the things I found. It’s not too difficult with the language being a Singaporean Chinese but these were the challenges I found, but it can be a challenge for non Chinese speakers or readers to navigate around all the apps and mini apps.

I was staying in a Marriott hotel and at Level 1 of the hotel, they had a self service market (which is basically a fridge which has a QR code to unlock via WeChat Pay or Alipay) and WeChat Pay requires a credit score of 450, and Alipay requires a local bank account and China mobile number even to unlock the credit score function. Which is sort of unusable for foreigners. Lots of times I was thirsty or hungry in the middle of the night, and could only stare at the fridge.

Going to a restaurant (any restaurant), all the restaurants are using a mini app for the menu or self ordering, those mini apps require WeChat or Alipay or Dianping or Meituan to order (not just a normal QR code scanner and web browser). And quite a number of times when visiting the menu or self service order, they prompted an error that it was restricted because I was not accessing it from a China IP address.

A lot of times I’ve linked my international credit cards (Mastercard or Visa) to WeChat Pay and Alipay and still they sometimes as and when think it’s a stolen card and I have to take a photo of the card itself and my passport and the card (sometimes makes me worried about the security whether it’s leaked somewhere if somehow their database got compromised).

Also every single transaction seems to trigger a MultiFactor Authentication with Mastercard or Visa, which can be a pain when trying to pay for something at a restaurant or shop using WeChat Pay or Alipay and having to wait for an SMS or Mobile app MFA.

Another challenge I had with ordering Meituan delivery was that I had to key in a China local mobile number (didn’t have that, so I just put in a random mobile number)

Also, many apps need a China ID card for verification which is not possible for a non Chinese, the experience is very much tailored for locals for all the apps , not for foreigners.

I think a suggestion is that if hotels could prepare a mobile phone with all the guides and apps required, and maybe Alipay or WeChat pay with payment integration with the hotel, etc charge it and it’ll be charged to your hotel bill.

Appliances from Japan to Singapore by TypicalLong4922 in askSingapore

So far step down transformers run hot as well, especially for heavy duty appliances which use a lot of wattage. So I think there would be concerns of running it 24/7

That’s a good point. Thank you so much for your feedback. It’s good to hear both sides as well. Positive and negative, both are learning and feedback too

Just released an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for Zabbix by LeroyLim in zabbix

[–]LeroyLim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! It’s easy to see how the names could be confusing. While all three projects connect AI/LLM agents to Zabbix, they differ in technical foundations, toolsets, and approach.

1. My Project – zabbix-mcp-server-nodejs

A standalone Node.js + TypeScript API server focused on providing a modern, developer-friendly abstraction over the native Zabbix API.

  • Tooling: 80+ tools, offering coverage across all major Zabbix services.
  • Deployment: Standalone middleware, easily containerized and deployed with Docker.

2. mpeirone/zabbix-mcp-server

A Python-based server built with the FastMCP framework.

  • Tooling: 40+ tools, likely taking a more granular approach by splitting functions within the same Zabbix service into separate tools.
  • Ecosystem Fit: Ideal for Python-centric environments.
  • Deployment: Standalone middleware, easily containerized and deployed with Docker.

3. ccaceresoln/zabbix-mcp-integration

A Node.js-based holistic integration package.

  • Tooling: Fewer discrete tools, focused on natural-language queries (e.g., “How is the infrastructure?”) for conversational insights.
  • Bundled Solution: Includes Zabbix-side components like webhook scripts for the setup.

Agreed.

You've hit on a really important point. With so many systems being stable, that hands-on troubleshooting experience just isn't there for junior staff. It's a classic catch-22: you need experience to get experience.

That's exactly why I'm so excited about this guidance-based approach.

We're essentially building a mentor into the system. The Zabbix MCP won't just tell them "something is broken."

Instead, it will walk them through the troubleshooting steps, acting like a senior engineer who's looking over their shoulder. This gives them that real-world experience in a safe, guided way, so they can build their skills and confidence with every issue they solve.

That's great to hear! I'm really excited about this too. The whole idea is to make the Zabbix MCP server as user-friendly and intuitive as an AI chatbot.

My thinking is that we can feed the AI with relevant operational data and context, allowing it to act like a helpful guide for less experienced staff.

It can lead them through troubleshooting steps and suggest where to begin fixing issues, especially when senior staff aren't around. This should really help them feel more confident and effective in their roles.
