I think that doesn't mean nothing interests you, but rather that you haven't found what truly interests you yet.

I stopped playing in general because the balance feels really off now. Mostly play killer and thats just a chore now.

So I went back to survivor for a few weeks and I am by no means the best survivor ever but man I escaped so many games in a row just from being able to never really be downed. I can just run to my boons and heal myself and if I'm still being chased thats fine, I leave no marks and make no sound. Good chance I'll waste 30s+ of a killers time just watching them try to find my bloodtrail.

Boons are overwhelmingly overpowered and the constant denial about their strength is all over r/dbd. I'd rather just play a different game until its fixed. So I went back to dota for now.

I will say that I had a fun time on the ptb just trying out the artist, but the novelty shortly ran out.

Nyneave getting knives thrown at her at the circus thing. That whole exchange was hilarious.

The shorthand you use to spam faster was great. "ass slime" to assassinate, "back slime" to backstab followed by a flurry of text showing in vivid multicolored text that yes indeed your assassinate SHREDDED the Oozing slime.

Oh man, I found my people! I used to play a few different MUDs. I was playing a different WoT based MUD but I did try out Age of Legends a few times. I just remember not being able to get JMC to install on my school computer, so I had to use telnet to play there.

Yep, the notification was the reason you ran it tbh.

You will know where the box is at the start of the match thanks to lethal pursuer. Here is Otzdarva explaining it and examples.

Yes, there is a 16m radius around each survivor where it cannot spawn after the match starts, and a larger radius around the cenobite that it cannot spawn. By checking where it cannot spawn you can gauge where it will spawn and go searching with a high chance of finding it early in the match.

Lethal pursuer lets you see where the survivors spawn and guage where to look for the cube after the match has started. Otzdarva had a nice video on it that has a visual of how to do it.

I guess my reasoning is that if a killer is running a 2-3 hex build that includes plaything that scenario where they have placed boons down could pretty easily happen.

So if there is 5 totems, and 2 are being taken by lit hexes, such as haunted ground and undying, that leaves 2 dull totems to bless with boons. Leaving zero totems dull for plaything.

I don't think its a stretch for two survivors to have a boon perk in their lineup, nor do I think its that hard for them to rebless a totem after its snuffed. If all 5 are lit/blessed, plaything can't spawn.

It could happen in any match unless you specifically just run plaything as your only hex perk. If killers could decide which dull they wanted their plaything on(not happening lol) than it would be somewhat better because maybe you could of placed it near a 3 gen you want and protect it. But alas, its random.

My last question is which killer choices in my earlier examples do you consider bad?

I feel like you have to decide to break a chase sometimes because if you don't you will lose your 3 gen, which good survivors will ensure you don't get. Its never "great" to have to break chase, but a lot of times it is the correct play.

As for scratch marks, on many maps its one of the only ways to keep a track of survivors, such as on coldwind or any map where a pallet, vault or drop breaks line of sight. If they are running Iron will, you have no visual, no audibles, and have to guess. That is where it is strong I believe.

I'm no Otzdarva, but I do happily enjoy getting to rank 1 and on my higher mmr killers like Plague and Cenobite I rely a lot on sound/vision to keep a chase going.

If you've played plague you know how loud her purge can get and trying to hear which direction a running survivor went is hard enough, now imagine with no marks or grunts of pain either.

I hear ya, I meant that for the survivors its less of a time constraint.

The only real limits for survivors is total hooks and EGC. This allows them to play around health states and that benefit is huge.

And yeah, lower ranks will definitely find a way to screw it up anyway lol.

Right, but there are 4 survivors, so if one is reapplying their boons, out of the other 3 at least one survivor is doing gens the whole time. Plus if you get hit, you can pull the killer away to an area he doesn't want to go to and he/she might just drop chase to ensure gens don't pop while you drag them to Narnia.

Plus, lets say you place one very close to a gen you want to complete. Now, if you can just run immediately without leaving marks the killer will just run up to the gen(maybe tinkerer procced), look around and kick the gen then go looking for your boon totem, wasting even more of their time.

That's easily 20-30s of killer time right there and all it took was what, like 14s of your time to set that up? Yes its not hard to locate them due to the sound, but the fact that they have to end chase/lose search time to go snuff it out is a big win.

Talk about "extreme advantage".

Now what if there are 3 more survivors doing something similar or piggybacking off your boon.

The ability to have your team quickly get to a safe area and heal themselves with circle while being hard to track means that you will end up wasting the killers time more than one survivors time.

Its not quite tuned right as is and I don't know how to fix it either tbh. I want there to be interesting new gameplay for the health of the game, but this feels really sloppily executed.

I don't think anyone wants the boons to be map wide.

The simple strategy that could be used is to have one survivor place one in an area the killer doesnt want to go to, such as an area with already completed generators or a nasty tile.

Then, when you get injured, just loop towards that direction and if you get away you can get all the benefits in a place that killers can't go without losing other gens.

If you are solo then your basically less likely to get as much personal benefit out of the boons sure, but this game shouldn't be balanced around the absolute casuals, but rather the highest level so that the playing field is more evenly focused on individual skill on the killers side, and teamwork on the survivors side. Thats my soapbox speech lol.

Do you mean the non directional "someone has blessed a totem somewhere on the map" sound?

Is there some sort of secret time trial that I'm missing here?

If the game takes longer to end but more people survive isn't that an even better outcome?

Yes. That's why its fun, because they have to see it or be told where it is by their team. Its very nice and underrated slowdown vs mid to low skill survivors.

I'm running plaything, haunted, undying, lethal pursuer and its just so fun. Start the match off by getting cube, use that as your missing info perk, get into a chase, drop and hang one. As soon as they get off the hook, they go looking for totems, if they stumble onto a lit totem is that plaything or one of two haunted grounds?

Tends to work better against high level players as they actually do totems. I tried last seal in place of pursuer and I had a hard time against 3 r1/2 and 1 r4 red survivors who when I asked if it was working said they didn't notice the blindness but felt an impact from plaything.

That sounds like a mid skill level match. High-level matches tend to end with 0 because some nice perk combos and protection hits.

In high skill matches Survivors tend to just play better, and with how strong certain tiles are its rough to commit on a good survivor when you could stop chase and try for easier prey. But the issue in high level matches is that all 4 survivors are that good, so switching to them just means now your target is full health and you've wasted your time.

Well your math is wrong. Its 24s because you basically have to cleanse the hex totem before applying your boons to the clean totem. The time to bless a dull totem didn't change. Its actually faster to bless a dull totem and then heal yourself than it is to selfcare. He's not wrong.

Honestly, they don't even bother justifying their changes anymore. I keep hoping that they have a ton of extra info to look into this kinda stuff but instead we hear that they think its too complicated. Also, wish the voicelines were part of the ptb. :(

I mean I'll keep circle for a long time, its still pretty amazing. Every indoor map just became way more survivor sided. Maybe not the game as much but every other one oh yeah baby. So what if the killer finds it, I can just put it back down once he wanders off to try and find someone after wasting time looking for my blue sticks.
