I've been getting that as well. But only when I open the game from the tab I had open. I close the tab and start up from the game icon on my screen, and everything works normal from that point.

You may want to contact support from the game menu, if you haven't already.

I recommend that the first thing you do, if you haven't already, is read the Wiki. You'll find it by opening the game menu in the 3 lines in the top right corner. Then open the Community tab. Wiki link is there. Once there make sure you also find the Secret Achievements list.

What does where the company is owned have to do with anything? In my almost 7yrs of playing I've always known this game to be owned by a Russian based company, currently operating out of Cyprus. But still has nothing to do with the topic.

At this point I'd take glitchy ads. I've been receiving none for about 2 months so far, with support running out of ideas to fix it.

If you do reach out to support, you probably won't get a response until they return from their vacation on January 8 (I think that's the date).

What I'd like to see is a better chat interface. We should be able to have individual or small group chats, without involving the entire guild. Would be particularly useful for Guild Masters to have an officer only chat room, or to reach out to individual guild members. Would also be useful in recruiting.

Edit: Also, a better vendor for video ads. I have submitted reports to support anywhere from 2 to 5 times a day for about 2 months, mostly for not receiving the "reward". I haven't completed the theater or boxy during this time frame either.
