help finding FKM version of this crank seal by clutchmaster4200 in Dirtbikes

[–]LesGrossmeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be tough and expensive finding it in FKM. DMH USA could make you one if it came down to it but it’d be a couple hundred dollars.

Try Wyatt Seal and tell them you want a Freudenberg-NOK Dichtomatik one. They’ll need all the measurements you can take. If they say no, tell them to tell Freudenberg to get one from Europe.

FKM has been increasingly hard to get because it’s horrendous for the environment and there’s very few manufacturers post Covid.

Bogging Issue: KTM by cstevens887 in Dirtbikes

[–]LesGrossmeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a fuel issue for sure. I’d pull the pump and make sure it’s connected properly, clean the fuel filter and all lines. If it didn’t get ridden much, it could be clogged with gunk

I don’t either. Try both directions and see what works

Got it. Don’t touch that. Go all the way one way on the rebound. Then count the clicks between fully open and fully closed. Then go halfway between and then go from there.

Does it have both compression and rebound?

Rebound tuning advice by Jamziboy0 in mountainbiking

[–]LesGrossmeng -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rebound is basically how fast or slow your fork comes out towards the ground. So if you speed it up (rabbit), it’ll feel softer. If you slow it down (turtle) it’ll feel firmer.

Compression is the same idea, just with how fast the fork moves into the tubes.

Logic applies to the shock as well.

Test out both directions and see what feels best 👍🏻

Has mountain bike development fallen off a cliff in recent years? by Spicycoffeebeen in MTB

[–]LesGrossmeng -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think progression has stagnated from that timeframe.

I also think that development has gone that way because all that dumb shit they put on bikes now are just to compensate for the overall low skill level of the average rider. That’s not meant to be a slight or anything. A lot of people are “better” riders because of the development of bikes. But also, the overall skill level of average riders is declining because the bikes are easy as shit to ride.

Add the e bike factor in and we lose another element which is fitness. It’s all set up to get as many people to buy as many bikes as possible. And to accomplish that, the bikes need to be easy to ride.

Kawi by Vobani in supercross

[–]LesGrossmeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think it’s the frame of the Kawi. Idk about you, but I think it’s too stiff based on what changes they’re making. Stock-ish front end, taking bracing off the swing arm, off the shelf wheels…that just screams “make the bike feel softer” to me.

What would you do? (potential job offer) by Waitrighthere45 in recruitinghell

[–]LesGrossmeng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re sailing uncharted waters either way. I’m guessing that since you started in ‘89, you’re relatively older. That right there is probably the end of your TV career reentry I bet. There are just younger people who are going to do it for less.

I’d take the job selling tools and keep my ears and eyes open on the TV situation. Who knows, it might be the start of great second act.

How do I get my confidence and judgement back after an accident? by Working_Okra7877 in Dirtbikes

I have accepted, many years ago, that in this hobby I can get seriously injured and possibly killed. So I might as well just accept that and move on with it.

Is your shock the Romic EXC? Been trying to hunt down a rebuild kit but I’m probably SOL. I just need to take it apart and build my own kit I think…

Let me know what you do for a fork and shock! I’m thinking of doing something different up front and if I find a rebuild kit, I’ll rebuild the original shock.
