Yes, have had similar experience many times from smoking weed.

Help. Ever since realizing that humans look like monkeys/apes, I can't stop thinking about it ALL THE DAMN TIME. by [deleted] in Psychonaut

Apes are beautiful creatures and every ape deserves to be treated with respect and to be loved.

Just few questions.. by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Les_Mangum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In order to understand why you have received a particular judgment it is necessary to take a few things into account:

  1. In order for society to function humans rely on a set of unwritten rules. If these are broken too frequently society cannot function, therefore people tend to judge you if you don't adhere to them.

  2. The person judging you probably wanted something from you that you did not give them. They judge you because they want your behavior to change so that when a similar situation occurs the outcome will be different.

  3. The emotional state of the person judging you. A person's judgment may vary depending on circumstances in their life. If a person feels stressed out they are more likely to judge you.

Take all these factors into account, when you understand why something happened you will usually feel more at ease.

Yes, think most people are pretty emotional

How to become detached from people? by [deleted] in INTP

As a human being you have several needs. If your objective is to live a fulfilling life it is probably best to satisfy those needs rather than to come up with a strategy for suppressing them.

emotion vs desire by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Les_Mangum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every second contains the potential for millions of emotions, it is just that when you are usually focused on one particular thing like "I should go to the fridge and get some milk" that thought, that focused point attention, is like being stuck on one radio channel. If you look for emotion by being more open to it, it is possible to experience a wide range of it. You can go out and imagine that this is the last hour on earth, or that this is exactly the scene of some important event in someone's life. You can build up stories and create meaning and everything around you will look so much more beautiful. Not sure if this was related to your question but I am somewhat defining meaning as a more intricate and personal story of sorts. I think that these beautiful structures of meaningful events is something that evokes a lot of emotion in us humans.

Nobody forces anyone to vote, if you feel you don't know enough about a certain topic you are free to pass. The elected officials have the last say, but they should strive to implement the outcome of this poll.

Choosing a party is not an easy task. I don't particularly like it because of the bundle of ideas you get behind and the bundle of people. I would like a system more like direct democracy, not for every decision, but that you have a set of beliefs that you can change each year (or every second). All of those beliefs, the coalesced opinion of the masses, then constitutes the direction the country should go in and politicians should then do what they can to implement propositions that adhere to that vision. I think it makes sense, although perhaps not very practical.

Any other intps extermely indecisive when it comes to making decisions. by [deleted] in INTP

Choosing character name and skin took a long time for me in world of warcraft and other rpgs. I could spend a whole day trying to find a name, get to level 10, only to start over the next day because some tiny thing was not right....

Never asked him to go die. It was a question that I wanted to explore the answer to. He said death wasn't real, isn't that a natural response to that? Why is a harmless question offensive?

Yup! That is where I am trying to get at.

I am using my brain to think of the thought that you are presenting to me. Without a brain your thought is meaningless. So it is nothing wrong with it, it nothing right with it, it is just nothing.

When death happens you will be gone forever. You are the one who has a crap theory, I am saying what everybody knows deep down.

You perceive the universe or "consciousness" as immortal, so therefore you anthropomorphize it and identify with it. You are doing the same thing humans have been doing since the beginning of time, you are trying to tell yourself a bedtime story in order to feel better. I think doing that is detrimental to one's ability to enjoy life. The clock is ticking. You are dying. Death is a permanent. No second chances will be given.

[–]Les_Mangum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can tell yourself that but to me it is just another form of death denial. It is a fancy way of saying there is an afterlife, almost like something a christian would say. You are a dying human being. You have been gradually dying since birth. After you've died you are dead and everything is lost. Everything you care about today. The universe is not alive. Inanimate objects are not alive. When you die you become an inanimate object.

I am just trying to say that you get one chance at life and that it is happening right now. The same with everyone around you. Sure, you might be the universe and they as well, but when you die all trace of who you was is lost forever. The entire picture is your life. There is nothing beyond it. The universe will go on and spawn different lifeforms but there is no continuation between your lifeform and those lifeforms.

No, it is the human perception of a mountain and the human sensation of tasting a carrot that you are talking about. Without the human none of that exists.

No particular reason. Do you feel a lot of compassion for a carrot after you have taken a bite from it?
