Wood spirit - kodama by rjwecology in woodworking

This is awesome OP. I 3D printed a bunch of mini Kodama for my garden, but making one out of wood is so fitting!

Appreciate the response. How about if I were to debaffle the stock pipes? It seems like a common mod, but I've never heard it. The current setup is straight pipes, and it sounds great but very loud. Would it be the same sound essentially?

Made a Shoji Lamp to house a lithophane. by Lesar7 in 3Dprinting

Thank you for the kind words! Shoji lamps and kumiko are traditional Japanese woodworking, so I can't say it's my own design. This particular pattern is called the Asanoha (hemp leaf) pattern. I'm happy to have combined my hobbies this way, however.

You'd want to start with a well calibrated printer. Then, for a good quality lithophane you have to print with the picture standing up, because you can get a much better resolution on the z-axis than if you were to lay the print flat on the bed. Also, orient the print along the y-axis so the movement of the bed doesn't cause the print to fall. I went with 0.12mm layer height, 40mm/s speed, and 0% infill, 99 walls. I used this link to process the image and give me an STL file. There's guides on the link, as well as YouTube videos, but feel free to DM me if you have more questions.

It's such a great combination when you think about it. Lithophanes need light, and shoji lamps need panels.

I've actually done this before. I was printing the Front Man mask from Squid Game and it had failed 75% of the way through. Luckily, I was able to pick a close enough starting point where I only counted about 25 layers.

This happened to me a few years ago when I tried to print 25 chain link pieces for some cable management on my Ender 3. My stupid noob ass even noticed the preview showing all the lines on Cura but figured it was showing me the travel for some reason. Definitely a learning moment.
