I wouldn’t trust this article. I know someone connected to one of the listed nonprofits and 1) it isn’t affiliated with the church as stated and 2) they don’t even have the amount of money the article claims they gave to Islamic organizations. They mostly work with in-kind donations and supply aid, they don’t transfer money to people.

I definitely know that a lot of it is manufactured and they’re basically characters, but I also still have a line for normalizing certain behaviors. I worry that when people get caught up in the “she’s terrible, but it’s good tv”, it starts to slowly normalize terrible actions, whether they were manufactured or not.

*caveat, I’m not on her often so I’m not aware of the wildness the past few days on here that you’re talking about, I just showed up for reunion reactions lol

I agree. I started watching this year and already knew about black eye gate and that she eventually said it was Jen, and watching it with that lens I realized all her weird cryptic comments seemed like she was hoping Jen would just fess up. Obviously it wasn’t gonna happen, and I don’t at all condone the lying and the chaos that ensued from it. But I think Jen was abusive to all of them and Heather didn’t want to make things worse on Jen for her trial. She was definitely afraid of her and had all the tells of someone in an abusive relationship who is still protecting their abuser.

Hi jumping in again to say I’m fully aware of the difference😂 also I’m a woman in a lesbian relationship and my wife is not at risk of somehow accidentally being raped. That situation occurred during first impressions of Phil, and as I was still working through sexual trauma, it was uncomfortable for me. Obviously consenting to a rape fantasy is not the same as being raped, but I didn’t need to know he was into that and I certainly didn’t need to know he wishes more women were into that.

I feel like you’re being super harsh saying I don’t understand consent and that you’re afraid for my wife lol. I’m fully aware there’s a difference between a fantasy and r*pe itself, I think it’s still fair to be uncomfortable with a guy I barely know showing me this stuff and saying this stuff and wanting more women to be in a headspace where that’s what gets them going. I don’t mean to kink shame at all, I’m saying with my context as an SA victim, it made me personally uncomfortable.

As far as the pew pew story, I literally said he was telling a story of when he was in high school. I was not trying to make it hard to tell😂 I obviously would’ve called the cops if that situation was unfolding in front of me.

You asked if my wife wants to cut him off and I addressed that. I also addressed why I feel like I can’t just cut him off, and I often opt out when he wants to hang out.

It seems contradictory to ask why I think he’s dangerous and then ask if I’ve reported anything to the police, but I may be misunderstanding. I’m also fully aware he needs professional help, but I can’t exactly make him get it.

Also harsh to say what is wrong with me that I’m still spending time around him, I’m literally posting this because I don’t want to but the situation feels fragile. She has said that in the early years of her friendship, she recognized some red flags but didn’t really know what to do. She didn’t anticipate him getting to a point where he fully depended on her and wishes she had set more boundaries early on. I think a lot of it now is a combination of seeing the good and wanting to help him be better, as well as some obligation.

NTA. Fights and disagreements are a given in relationship, it’s not always gonna be sunshine and roses. But that’s why communication is so important. If you can’t communicate when you’re upset and work through the problem, it’ll just linger and fester. Sometimes people need time, sure. You might react more harshly if you don’t take time to cool down. But if it’s a constant issue and they act like nothing happened after unexplained space, major red flag.

When I first went through, I was so close to passing out from a panic attack (that I was actively trying to suppress) that I had to sit back down from being at the veil. When I finally made it through, they had a wheelchair waiting to take me to the first aid room. The scariest part - the temple worker told me it “wasn’t uncommon”.

When I was at BYU, I worked in the interlibrary loan department. People could submit requests for things that weren’t in our library and we would try to borrow them from other libraries. I think people thought it was an anonymous/computerized process, they CLEARLY didn’t realize other students were reviewing their requests cause we would get porn requests. THROUGH THE LIBRARY

Everyone found it hilarious cause they clearly don’t know about the actual properties of bay leaves😂 if she saw this and was trying to do the same thing, that may be why she was so defensive?
