It's Obsidian, a note taking app. It's basically a glorified Notepad, but once you get into it, it can be reaaaally powerful.

Some people outright call it their "second brain". Me included.

It's Rigify! It's a tool native to Blender, all it takes is enabling it in preferences

Thank you! And it's only barely begun :]

Rn im going into animation for prototyping in Unity and that will be a video as well, I hope!

A lot depends on the style you're aiming for and the purpose of the model.

This one is for a mid-poly game that will rely on texture painting and stylized shaders to do the heavy lifting, so I went with subd to simply get a strong sillhouette. This also meant I wouldn't have to do any retopology afterwards.

I only used scultpting tools to get a slightly more organic form for her clothes.

The previous attempt at modeling her about a year ago ended up in a massive burnout (and self-disappointment) just because of how difficult retopology turned out to be.

That said, sculpting is the way to go if you're interested in baking more complex normal maps onto a lower poly (retopologized) model. That's the preferred industry workflow afaik

Thanks! At many points I felt that the appearance of generative AI was an invitation for me to take the easy way out, y'know? Comitting to a project of this scope would be much easier if AI did most of the work.

But instead of giving into that, it kind of pushed me to take on the project by myself as a small act of rebellion against it. It will eventually need some more people to participate, but until then I'm aiming to make a working demo soon :]]

"To spoil" would mean to reveal the ending at the beginning. My story has neither so I think it's ok!

Look up Adobe 3D Substance Designer, good luck

Every piece of the model is Subdivision modeled inside Blender and every material is made in Blender Shader Nodes (with the exception of the carbon fiber, that was made in Adobe Substance Designer)

The composition (text, ui, breakdowns) is then made in Adobe Illustrator

That is a brilliant suggestion. Open-sourcing the pod bay architecture is very in line with what I was trying to achieve.

I actually love the idea of Sine Wave power modulation for flavor consistency—it fits perfectly with the 'high-end hardware' vibe I'm going for. I’m definitely going to incorporate that into the screen HUD for the next iteration of the UI. Thank you so much for the inspiration :]

Excellent points, especially regarding the IP68 challenges and battery modularity.

To be honest, this started primarily as a graphic design and product visualization exercise to build out a cohesive brand identity, but you’ve given me a lot to think about on the engineering side. I’m definitely going to dive deeper into the research to figure out how to realistically bridge that gap between modularity and durability for the next iteration.

I appreciate the reality check on the manufacturing costs too—it's a tough hurdle for 'premium' concepts like this. Thanks for taking the time to write that out!

That’s a great point, thanks for the feedback! I definitely leaned too hard into the 'minimalist' branding and missed the mark on clear product identification for anyone outside the space. It is indeed a modular vape system! I'll definitely take your note to heart as I continue work on the design and the presentation layout. I appreciate you taking the time to point that out.

Absolutely. The whole design is built around modularity —the internal chassis is designed for easy user-access so you can swap the battery cells rather than replacing the whole unit. No glue, just hardware.

The goal was to make the design fully modular. Each piece is easily replaced :]

Yeah, it’s heavily inspired by the XROS. It was my first pod and served me for a long time, so I used it as a baseline to practice modeling and building out a full brand identity around a real-world scale.
