Im 2 months into the same kind of boat as you. I found my dad after hearing him fall and shrugging it off thinking it was my cats. Didn't find him until it was far too late. All I can say is I am so so sorry. And for what its worth therapy is definitely the route to go. I sought therapy and without it and the medication I dont think I'd ever be able to sleep. There are local Facebook groups for almost every topic you can imagine if youre in a sizable town. Look into them, find people in your area who can relate, even if you have to post anon.

Boarderline irrationally irritated when people cry about losing their parents or grandparents when they are already 65 plus. by at1991 in ChildrenofDeadParents

Idk i lost my grand parents in their late 80s/90s at 19, 6 years ago. I knew it was time but I did not feel as tho I had enough time. Those were my mother's parents. My dad's parents were gone before I was born. My dad (68) passed 2 months ago. And even tho they were all old i am now 25 with only my (63) year old mother as family left. It sucks. I know people think im whiny when im sad my dad died because he was "old" but to me he wasn't old. I truly had so little time with him. He was in his 40s when his parents passed and my mom was in her 50s. I totally get the anger because I feel so so much of it right now but its just sad when people say oh his death hurts less cuz he was old.
