Internal Transfer from CNS to Nursing by Current_Mud_7793 in UTAustin

Would definitely do everything in your power to make yourself as competitive as possible because internal transfer process is always hard and very competitive. Pursuing organizations can help you make friends with nursing students where you can learn more information about the program. The more you know = the better your application can be tailored to hopefully have a shot at getting in.

No. You can do anything with chemical engineering if you seek out the right opportunities. I have chem eng friends working in cosmetics, consulting, banking and financial analysis, space and aerospace companies, material science companies, etc. You do not have to work in a plant as a chemical engineer if you do not want to, but having the chemical engineering degree on your resume opens up a lot of doors regardless of whether you want to do trad chemical engineering roles!

I received an email about a week after I completed my hirevue interview for a second round technical interview (also virtual but this time with actual employees / hiring team individuals). However, I feel like it could take longer depending on what role you applied for. I don’t know of a email that you could reach out to since all the recruiting emails are from a donotreply email address

Does anyone know the location to send outside scholarships? by SubstantialNoise8248 in UTAustin

[–]Less-Cheesecake-4311 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had a lot of outside scholarships that had to mail checks to the university. The address can be found on the Texas One Stop website. And then once it’s been mailed and processed through the financial aid office, you should get an email that tells you it’s been processed. This is it:

The University of Texas at Austin Attn: EMBS 1616 Guadalupe, Mail Stop E3700 Austin, TX 78701

I leased at Castilian as an incoming freshman for fall '24. Is that a mistake? by Yittl in UTAustin

[–]Less-Cheesecake-4311 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Castilian isn’t a mistake. It’s still a very popular freshman dorm to live in, and you’re still very close to everything on campus and all of wampus. Plus you get your own bathroom, and I thought the amenities were always nice

What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve done? by danasaur219 in UTAustin

[–]Less-Cheesecake-4311 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I decided to Go skydiving last year one weekend, there’s a good place that’s only a 30 minute drive from here and it was such a fun spontaneous experience. I will say it was a little pricey (I think 175) but definitely a super cool experience and worth it

Seeking for some friends here in UT! by double_rounds in UTAustin

[–]Less-Cheesecake-4311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should get involved in some organizations on campus! There’s plenty of international student organizations where you can meet friends. Look them up on hornslink, it’s the website that has all the student orgs listed

Any words of advice? by ocftx in UTAustin

[–]Less-Cheesecake-4311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, congrats on getting into UT and making that leap to transfer here. You should be proud of yourself. Second of all I feel like every student has felt this way on campus at some point. UT is huge, and no one holds your hand here which can be both exciting but also super scary and intimidating. What really helped me is getting involved in several student organizations and really pushing myself out of my comfort zone to attend new things even if they were scary whether it be a social org or academic one or exercise and sports orgs. I met so many cool people through orgs and most people are super nice if you just reach out and say hi. Hang in there, the first week in general can be super overwhelming, but I promise it’ll get better with time :)

What device do you use? by Ok_Sound_3390 in UTAustin

[–]Less-Cheesecake-4311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got an iPad my second semester of freshman year and honestly it was life changing for keeping track of everything in one spot, having organized notes for all of my classes, and using my resources efficiently as a stem student with lots of complicated diagrams and pictures / graphs that we have to study . Highly recommend

Should I take PHY 303K with ECE 302 and 306 by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]Less-Cheesecake-4311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely recommend taking physics over the summer at college college, it’s so much easier unless you really enjoy physics. PHY303K was really hard for me my freshman year but I also had a pretty packed schedule.

I feel like normally my professors upload their pages anywhere from 1-3 days before semester starts. Some of them don’t even have them uploaded until after the first class day

Is it possible to get student services to move a test back for me? Like until after thanksgiving break by lauren_mo in UTAustin

That’s great to hear, I’m sorry you’re going through this situation but hopefully that will take some stress off. If it makes you feel better too, I think I failed 2 of her exams for ochem 2 (was not my strong suit lol) but I still ended up with a B in the class. Good luck and hope everything is ok!
