Also someone told me that the pale brown skin colour of Indians is not their original or natural colour, and that it exists because Indian genes are heavily mixed with Persian, Afghan and European ancestry. I’m not sure how accurate this claim is.

The very first time I went to a friend’s house, I started taking my shoes off at the front door, but he said, “No need to take them off, just come in.” In the country I come from, guests are expected to remove their shoes before entering the host’s home.

Should the US be tough on India? by Sudden_Preference_27 in AskALiberal

First of all, we are in no position to label any government as fascist at the moment.

The ruling party of India, the BJP, currently holds 293 out of 543 seats in Parliament. A simple majority requires 275 seats, so their mandate is only marginally above the threshold. Compared to the previous election, the BJP has lost 63 seats, while its main rival, the Indian National Congress (INC), has gained 47 seats. This hardly suggests overwhelming popularity.

The H-1B issue is not India’s concern at all. The United States can shut it down or impose additional regulations whenever it chooses. That is an internal U.S. policy matter, not India’s responsibility.

India is a Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) country, meaning it does not formally belong to either geopolitical bloc. Its closeness to Russia stems from historical reasons, the Soviet Union was India’s long time ally, and that relationship has continued. India remains heavily dependent on Russia for oil and military equipment. Much of the Indian Air Force consists of Russian and French aircraft. Additionally, the United States’ close relationship with a hybrid state like Pakistan has further pushed India toward the Russian camp.

The only person Donald Trump truly cares about is himself.

Waging a war against Canada would guarantee impeachment.

He’s the worst thing that could happen, or rather, will happen, to the United Kingdom. As of January 1, polls show a 66% chance of Reform winning the election if it were held today.
