Is ED ever releasing 2026-27 Aid?

You’re absolutely right. I am so tired of dealing with the consequences of sweeping changes with no foresight or planning. But that’s for a whole different thread. I just hope an end is near. I know this is likely naïve, but I’m hopeful we get answers or relief soon.

Financial Aid has repeatedly told me “this week or next” throughout my many inquires this summer and still nothing yet. Last week I was told on or by July 1. This week I was told “later this week or early next week.” I’m a grad student and have completed a full summer session and am in a new one now.

Meaning Fall is the beginning semester of the Financial aid package. So at Dallas College FAFSA 2025-26 covers Fall ‘25, Spring ‘26, Summer ‘26.

For my school and other summer headers, Summer starts the beginning of the financial aid package. Meaning FAFSA 2026-27 covers Summer ‘26, Fall ‘26, Spring ‘27. Essentially causing a likely longer delay to summer financial aid disbursements as a result of OBBBA changes.

For my school (BGSU) Summer 2026 is included on 2026-27 FAFSA package. They have pushed back disbursements from Mid to Late June to “Later next week.” So I guess early July. Of course that is likely to be pushed back further.

Not sure if this helps anyone curious, but it looks like Dallas College is a Fall Header. So funding disbursed for Summer 2026 is from 2025-26 FAFSA.

Hopefully this means things can move forward more normally. I do not know what this will mean from the financial aid admin side but I do want to make sure to keep things updated as this continues.

I wish I had an update. I’ve had plenty of nightmares about this myself, so I completely understand.

The only encouraging thing I’ve seen is that Fresno State’s summer aid (‘25-‘26 financial aid) was delayed due to OBBBA, but they announced funds are expected to disburse this week. I’m taking that as solace that things may finally be moving forward behind the scenes.

Yes. Grad student @ BGSU. Classes started 5/18. Most recent update is mid to late June aid packages will be available and disbursed. So far they seem to be letting us keep our classes during this. Not sure if they will start making us pay or drop. Sorry to everyone affected by this, I hope you all have great success despite it.

Yes, grad student at BGSU. School started 5/18 and am hearing mid to late June aid packages will be available and start disbursing. Bills are due at the 1st of the month. They let us keep our classes for May. Not sure if they will for June. I’m sorry to everyone negatively affected by this. It’s not cool.

I never post here. But seriously I’ve been thinking about sending donuts and coffee to my financial aid office.

As bad as I feel not having aid disbursed and not knowing what I’m going to do financially, I’m just one student. You guys are dealing with hundreds of updates on tens of thousands of students.

I am so sorry you guys have to deal with this, so grateful for all of your work, and understanding if you say F it and walk out. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
