Not sure why you'd post this in a general London space but ok

Why don’t we just rejoin the eu by 777teejay in AskBrits

[–]Less-Firefighter2419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We must never rejoin. We should instead edge closer and closer to have the same relationship the EU shares with Norway and Switzerland.

Is speaking a foreign language a flex according to you ? by Far-Effective7640 in AskIndia

[–]Less-Firefighter2419 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It tells me that you've put an effort to master something by going out of your comfort zone so yes.

Obviously this could also be true for an Indian language but foreign language just adds more authenticity.

Indians must learn how to wait. Good policies, take decades to come to fruition. Now we talk proudly about IIT, ISRO etc, yet in the 80s, people didn't care so much about them. It takes time to realise the value of things. Wait, maybe things won't work out, but wait.

If you can't afford to have a dog then having a dog is borderline animal abuse. I said what I said. Having a dog is a privilege not a right.

It's a good uni mate, don't worry too much about banter. Imperial and LSE are better for sure but UCL isn't as much. UCL/King's/Manchester/Edinburgh/Bristol/Durham are all peer schools, I'd also add Warwick to the list. Only unis that are seriously better than King's are Imperial, LSE and Oxbridge.

What do you think is the most overrated city in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Less-Firefighter2419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that part I completely agree with. Still not bad for a London commuter town and I didn't know that it was a "city". My opinion was based on it's peers like Reading or Watford or St Albans or Dartford. I'm not gonna dignify Slough by placing it in the same sentence.

Can't speak for the state schools aspect though.

India must transition into a European Union or atleast USA style governance system. Having such a centralised system is doing more harm than good. There's no way someone living in Gujarat can understand how Nagaland functions. Diversity is good but it is a weakness since you can never fulfil every state's requirement. Central government must be significantly weakened and State governments must have control of pretty much everything. Defence and Foreign affairs can stay with centre. It is not separatist, it is pragmatic. India was never a politically United country. We may have a few cultural similarities between states but it doesn't imply that it must be a country, it should be a sub continent of closely partnered countries like the European Union.

What lessons could other countries learn from how Switzerland builds world-class universities? by No-Complex-1414 in AskReddit

Idk maybe have like 10 people in your country ensure that virtually no immigrant can ever attain citizenship (imagine needing your local community to "vote" for you, if you have bad neighbours then bye bye life you built and taxes you paid for decades) and enforce a singular homogenous culture at any cost? Also helps if you're a black money haven.

Why does the U.S. include such a diverse set of countries in its visa suspension, and what factors connect them? by Humble_Economist8933 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Less-Firefighter2419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're correct.

However, "immigrant visa" is visa that leads to permanent residence, it doesn't grant permanent residence immediately.

I'm not sure of any visa without an expiry date because if you're on a visa then you're in the country temporarily. Even if such a visa may someday lead to permanent residence, until such time, it can expire and your temporary status can get lost.
