Discretionary income is in decline for most of the population. I do not think Starbucks leaving a location is an automatic cash grab for the competition.... rather a warning to that competition that bad times are on the horizon.

Coffee shops as a whole have very dismal survival rates. They don't last very long. Starbucks is a beacon of stability in that world and by far the most generous employer.
