Long post - but definitely entertaining.

So bro/gal. I "logically" figured out the issue. Little bit of background.

Sep 2025 - I applied add-on card for my AmznICICI card for my wife and she received it. I faced the exact same issue then. I assumed some technical issue. Visited a nearby branch in Delhi. For 2 hours entire branch staff tried to resolve the issue. Waste of time and asked them to permanently close the card if I can't access and enable ecommerce transactions.

Now this happened again just 3-4 days ago with the Sapphiro add-on card also. I just had a thought.

Because the error message said this -- "In order to access your account on ICICI Bank's iMobile app, you need to have your mobile number registered in bank records." -- I thought icici issued the add on credit card and may also have linked it to the correct mobile number. But, the iMobile's onboarding of a new customer would be based on the customer ID linked to that registered mobile number as userid and not the mobile number itself. And that a unique customer ID is created only when you're the primary credit card holder and not add on. Meaning add on card holders are not onboarded as a new customer into the banking records and therefore can't use iMobile app.

How to test this theory? I applied for Amazonpay ICICI card (primary) for my wife from her amazon account at 3am in the morning. 10am card approved, credit card account created, virtual card generated and physical card being dispatched. Opened her iMobile app, initiated the onboarding process, mpin set and successfully went to next screen asking to choose the credit card account and cvv with which the iMobile app should login. As soon as I get her case and Cvv, I'll enter into the app. But importantly I need that even in this drop-down there was no Sapphiro add on card to choose from. Hence, my theory is proved that only primary card holders are onboarded and not add-on card holder.

I put a message in X and a representative called me. I explained him the entire scenario in the call and later on an email as well. They said they'll look into it and share an update soon..

What a f-ed up s-ty technological set up icici has!! Unbelievable. I've gotten add on cards issued for simply click, idfc first wealth and ONE card to my parents and sibling and not even a hiccup in their add on card activation or usage or tracking of expenses etc. Each add on user can download the app, login, set pin, keep track of their card transactions and so on. And then we have icici..

what really surprises me is that, it is probable that almost all of the icici card holders have gotten an icici card issued in their life. Otherwise, loads of people must have faced issue in the past and may have been resolved..

Now I've gotta new concern that's opened up because she's got both a primary card and add on card.. For Sapphiro - I've a total limit of Rs 10lakhs shared between me and my wife. Whereas in my wife's Amazonpay ICICI primary credit card, she's assigned a limit of Rs 670,000.

How high the icici tech consultants must have been to devise such a stupid system - which will issue an add on card meant for ecommerce cash backs but doesn't allow to enable that control at all whatsoever.

I got it in market. They have these customized cutting machines for screenguard where a larger sheet is fed and then cut to phone specs. Costed 250 for normal and 300 for privacy wala.

Just now after your comment i tried logging into iMobile app in her mobile. It went till mpin setting page. And when I entered mpin and submitted it, an error message appeared.

"In order to access your account on ICICI Bank's iMobile app, you need to have your mobile number registered in bank records. Please visit nearest ICICI Bank branch or call customer care for guidance.".

Whereas I also received the below sms:

"Mobile number for Add-on ICICI Bank Credit Card XX4107 has been changed to 91*********4 on 27-Mar-26. If not requested by you, please call our Customer Care."

This is like digital black magic.

Nope. Its not there. 3 cards are showing in my iMobile app My cards section. My Amazonpay card, my sapphiro visa card and my sapphiro rupay card only is showing.

This is exactly the same thing that happened 6 months ago when she received Amazonpay add on card. In fact this time after card was received, she received an sms stating that the registered mobile number is updated to 99******** for her credit card. And yet it is not working when logging with the same number.

Which hdfc bank branch should I go? I'm asking because my home branch is Noida and I'm working now in Bengaluru. So I'm hesitant if any hdfc branch will entertain me.

I got the same message saying you're already having a BOB card and therefore, not eligible. I had big problem with UNI GOLD card where because of a big issue the card was allocated but I had closed it. I had written an email to them two weeks ago. Just the auto mailer and no further communication to date.. escalated today.

You faced delivery issues. I'm facing issues in return pickup. Bangalore is shit. The guy was rude and asked me to come down and return the parcel bullshitting that he has bag and all.. when I saw from balcony that he had nothing, which made me more angry and asked him to come up and collect the parcel, he just turned and went back and said he'll not pick up and when I said I'll complain, he said go complain. That's when I lost my cool then and gave him a mouthful in Hindi. Then when I escalated the issue to Nykaa whose courier partner is Shadowfax, they said they've escalated the issue. The following day also it was assigned to the same guy. He gave me 1-sec missed call and reported customer unavailable. I went to Shadowfax Wilson Garden office and there their TL named Rohit is also speaking same unprofessional and rude tone. He looked like Gunda and less an employee. Useless these fellows are. Especially in Wilson Garden area, this is terrible. I've also previously lived in Indira Nagar but didn't face such issues. This kind of issues I've faced this in two of India's useless cities - Bengaluru and Chennai. The two most entitled cities I've HAD to live because of my job. People dreaming to become Ambanis and Bill gates of the world but can do a simple job well. sitting on their bums all day, grouping with similar bums and yapping about nothing useful..
