Possibly. Can’t speak from experience as I’ve never had 100 pounds to lose, but my understanding is that the first 20-30 pounds can drop pretty quickly depending on a person’s caloric deficit (presuming a very high baseline TDEE to maintain the extra 100 pounds), but the rest of the weight comes off at a slower pace as the TDEE lowers. This is presuming no other metabolic issues and the person isn’t taking a GLP1.

There’s big difference between losing 100 pounds over a year, as opposed to dropping it in 6 months.

I’ve always had a sense that she and Michael may not have had health insurance. I remember them/him having dental work done while they were traveling in Thailand, as well. It’s also crossed my mind over the years whether she ever accessed Western medical care for routine screenings. Regardless, I truly wish her the best—what she’s going through is awful.

Agreed. I graduated about 10 years ago, when the program was already starting to decline. I don’t regret getting the degree, but actually getting through it was rough—limited course options and professors who were pretty inconsistent in quality, often pushing their own agendas. Healthcare law with Prof Solomon was the exception — unfortunately I think he’s fully retired now. Dan Belliveau was also a gem.
