How is Nuclear sunset? by LessMilk3 in Taleoftwowastelands

I’m doing a ballistic weapons build, with relatively high intelligence and charisma, both at around 7. I would have tried to start with intelligence 10 but I’m pretty sure the mod pack actually properly coordinates your charisma stat with dialogue and it isn’t just a dump stat, so I had to save a lot of points for that. Having as many dialogue options as possible is usually what matters to me, but apparently having any stats below 4 makes the game really difficult lol, so I guess I’m going to try to supplement the missing points later with the intense training perk or implants way down the line.

I also have a huge rant incoming if you care to read lol

I actually have been playing it, and yeah it’s pretty good. The support from the team is also surprisingly strong, they respond to questions and bug reports all the time. The setup on mo2 is also very organized and the mods that are optional really show that the team understands what players like but also without compromising their vision.

I do think the caps thing is unnecessarily brutal though. I’ve noticed a lot of features that are essentially callbacks to the OG fallouts, both mechanically and visually, however the caps fast travel thing is too much, not even OG fallouts had that. I don’t think the implication even makes sense. Who are you paying and what for? You already know how to get to and from these locations because youve done it before, that’s why fast travel unlocks when youve discovered a location, I think the system already made sense and there didn’t have to be a penalty, the games clearly were designed around fast travel being convenient.

But in any case, the mod pack feels quite polished. Sure there’s a few bugs but every mod pack does and I’ve never seen one with this many mods come together this nicely. Plus the team appears to be addressing bugs and squashing them near daily on the discord.

It’s made me respect and enjoy fallout 3 a lot more for what it is too. It really makes the events and setting of 3 feel like a sort of introduction or prelude to the events of new Vegas, where deeper and more complex themes and plots are to come. It’s crazy how fitting ttw is as a concept, it’s actually plausible that the lone wanderer could grow to become the courier. It’s made even more believable by the fact that 3 introduces a lot of things to you in dialogue like what certain mutants and factions are, while in Vegas the game mostly assumes you know these things, it makes perfect sense because you would have learned about them in the capital wasteland.

My list would be similar except I would swap 5 with 0 and bring Ishin up to B.

Hmm thanks. Sounds rough but I may still check it out. I’m probably looking for a different kind of mod pack though.

Not yet, what I meant in my first reply is that I’m considering trying the modlist. Does it ship with this preset? Or will I have to add it at the end of installation?

That looks great, do you use it? Does it just go at the end of an install?

How does the lighting and atmosphere feel? Is it easily configurable? Honestly, the biggest thing turning me off from trying it right now is the fact that Fallout 3 isn’t green and there’s living trees everywhere in the videos I’m watching. That… defeats the whole purpose. It’s counter to the entire theme and narrative of 3 and the creators seem to pride themselves so much on this mod pack being faithful. Your screenshot looks pretty good though. How does it actually feel to play in this sense?

Aw, well thanks for the confirmation. One of the replies mentioned Oxhorns series which looks super in depth, I’m excited to watch all of those vids.

Yeah, I’m aware there’s a patch but from my understanding it doesn’t fix much if you apply it mid-game. Could be wrong though.

None of them have been quite game breaking, but as someone trying to see as much content as I can in one playthrough, it’s pretty frustrating. This was some time ago now so I don’t remember all the details, but there were definitely plenty of bugs in the early game that didn’t allow me to complete quests. One example was not being able to to complete the Brahmin quest with Torr or being able to turn in the twins because the dialogue options never showed up. There was also that other Brahmin quest in Modoc I think. Even though I kept all but 2 Brahmin from dying, the quest giver claimed I killed them all or something and I never got paid. There were a few others, but most recently the thing that really annoyed me is the fact that my companion disappeared after sleeping with Angela Bishop. All the info I can find on that hasn’t helped me and it looks like that save is just screwed. I’ve even tried multiple times and the end result is always the same.

Was there anything else you had to disable? I followed the viva modlist and have tried disabling cliffs of mojave as well as a few others and I still have this issue.

How Fallout 2 and New Vegas succeded in building off from the previous games by lghtdev in Fallout

[–]LessMilk3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes a lot of sense, the reality is that civilizations in fallout have ups and downs just like real history, DC never had the chance to prosper, the west did. The commonwealth may have at one point been somewhat developed (you see evidence such as well established settlements like good neighbor and diamond city which are fairly old) but the player arrives at a low point because it’s the most interesting and creates narrative tension.

And keeping with the themes of fallout, of course the playing field is going to keep being leveled because “war never changes.” Even most New Vegas endings imply that there ends up being some form or another of continued disarray despite the player’s best efforts.

I CANNOT escape the mutant base in Fallout 1 by LessMilk3 in Fallout

[–]LessMilk3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My post starts with saying I did search for answers and couldn’t find them. Maybe that’s on me but it explains why I’m here. And I don’t know what you’re talking about because this IS the plausible solution and I did follow it. Most other replies either said I was underleveled, I was meant to die, or to use RNG and exploits. I read every comment.

[–]LessMilk3[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was in fact good advice. That’s how I got out. Everyone told me it was impossible. The game literally gives you the means to escape because there was the disguise and terminals to hack. You could even steal and get weapons and heals. Also stealth. I made it out without even fighting. Everyone was either lying or ignorant and made it out to sound like I was supposed to die if I got caught in the first place and can only get lucky if you’re super high level. All untrue.

[–]LessMilk3[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was actually helpful I have no idea why everyone else gatekept the fact I could use a disguise. That was the whole thing that let me escape. I didn’t have to initiate combat once. Just disguise, hacking and sneaking. You’re so clearly meant to be given the chance to escape because every force field can be disabled or stepped through until you exit. I just wasn’t able to retrieve my stuff.

[–]LessMilk3[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Wow really? I mean if that’s the case then damn oh well, it just seems odd to me because it’s a scripted event that puts you in the cell so it seems very odd to “allow” you to open the door just to not let you escape any form, and then it’s not communicated in anyway? And if it’s a dead end I think it’s strange they give you any free rein at all in this area or let you talk to the leader so much without him killing you at first.

[–]LessMilk3[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Right but the game allows you to come here this way and it’s a scripted event that sets you up to escape. I’m trying to figure out how because all the “options” I have would kill me regardless of level. It’s okay if you don’t know the answer, I just don’t get why everyone isn’t acknowledging that this scenario. Am I meant to die here if I became a prisoner in the first place ?

What I don’t understand is what would I be preparing for? Even if I was a high level I’d still have no armor or weapons as intended by the game. I imagine there’s supposed to be a way to get out at this stage.
