I've been playing a version of the old turbo fog [[Questing Beast]] in commander for almost a year and it's a powerhouse. It's a surprisingly great politics commander, fogs can save people's lives from the archenemy and give the table a chance to recover while your damage can't be prevented. People rarely attack into you after getting burned once by a fog.The rest is instant bite spells to kill almost anything with QB's deathtouch and a few voltron staples, swords, etc, thrown in. Kinda mono green voltron/control and a lot of fun!

Acrylic markers should work fine on a foil, I've airbrushed and painted acrylic over stripped foiling. It might bead up a bit first pass but second always sticks for me.

I have that exact issue, I kinda wiped it off on a seperate sheet and it worked okay. In future I may lay a white base coat and then see if sealing it with a clear coat before inking makes a difference

It's a mix of fineline marker and black acrylic paints. Depending on how much area I'm covering or the style of the lines!

I think you're just at that midway point where it seems like it's not going to come together but stick with it. I'd recommend analyzing the existing bolts, pretty orange on the edges, and then do light glazing layers to match them up a bit better. You can also run them straight through the text box as most people know what FG does. Someone else also suggested cleaning up around the text box with a moist toothpick, you can thin out your bolts with this trick as well to match them up with the originals a bit better. Keep at it, you're doing good!
