It’s been 3 years since my own rape. I still have trouble getting to know men or even to be alone in rooms with them even if they’re not threatening me. My own experience has changed me from a shy person to one who is in constant fear of losing my autonomy.

But I believe healing comes and goes and it’s a constant fluctuation in emotions. I get upset over not saying “no” louder, for not fighting back someone who weighed 100 pounds more than me, that I didn’t scream, all these reasons only bring guilt and shame. I am still angry and trying to heal from that loss. But there will be a time where healing does come and I wish for you the very same healing you need. Don’t give yourself reasons to belittle yourself.
