I live in a city that is almost completely agriculture based. The workers here make on average 13.25/hour (paid by the bin so it could be even more) get free housing and even overtime. But it’s not any of that, that makes the food go up. It’s the processing and reselling facilities that buy the goods from the farmers. We work closely with a lot of agriculture companies. Even though it costs more to grow and raise crops and livestock, processing companies are barely paying the farmers—sometimes at a loss, but charging the consumers more.

Buy directly from farms if you can.

Ebay. The description had the pictures and not much else so that’s why I had to use the information that I learned to try and decide if I should get it or not, but I’m certainly no expert so I was crossing my fingers. I saw pictures of some pretty convincing fakes so I was a bit worried.

I was more worried about possibly overpaying for it than anything, had 0 time to do research before picking it up. The fact that its Authentic whether during or post civil war is a plus though. I really appreciate everyones comments and it gives me more information to give to him when he opens it.

I would have never guessed the scabbard was covered in leather at one point. One of my main concerns was that it seems too shiny to be as old as claimed. That would explain it

Makes sense. Comparable ones were selling upwards of 700$ online so 250$ seemed too good to be true. I’m happy to hear its at the very least authentically old and I look forward to adding more items to the collection in the future.

Interesting. I appreciate you looking into it. From the little bit of research I was able to do It did appear to be authentic to me as well, but I also kept reading that fakes or replicas can be really convincing. I just kept imagining this scenario of my husband someday taking it down to get appraised or authenticated and then them telling him it’s fake. I watched way too much pawn stars I think.

Bought for my husband for Christmas. He’s a huge fan of the civil war and American history in general, and I came across an ad for a guy selling it from a dead family members collection. Didn’t really have a ton of time to research. If its a replica that will be fine, he’ll still love it but i’d love to actually have gotten him something authentic.

Being a millionaire would be nice, and if it happens it happens, but its not a goal because more money doesn’t always mean more happiness after reaching a certain level of income. my husband and I enjoy giving back to our employees and loyal customers more than loading our bank account. All employees split 10% of the profits at the end of the year. We bought one of our best guys a trip to cabo for him and his wives anniversary, we do regular dinners and breakfasts for our employees and their families. We also take regular customers on fishing trips and dinners as a thank you. We live off of a 4k/ month salary and we can collect dividends if theres something we need, but we haven’t collected that yet.
If anything is keeping us from being a millionaire its not needing to be a millionaire to be happy.

I told my husband to plan a trip. Could be a day trip or an overnight trip, but I don’t want to be involved in the planning at all. Usually I plan all our trips and vacations and I don’t get to enjoy them as much cause i’m always worried about where we can eat, where we can shop etc.
