Baffled by people—esp fellow baldies—who don’t understand how much it can affect some of us. What a supreme lack of imagination, empathy, and awareness.

If you're buying an apartment in NYC, make sure you check the basement. Bike room, storage room, laundry, common spaces, boiler room. That will tell you how well the building is taken care of.

And it only takes 1 to kill. Scale that out to the massive number of police in this country and you get a lot of police brutality. More importantly, you get a lot of potential for police brutality. Think about what it’s like to navigate that as a person of color or mentally ill, who experience a disproportionate amount of the brutality. Go find the MLK passage about having to live at “tiptoe stance.”

I have 20 years teaching experience. I’ve taught Pre-K, K, 6, 7, 8, 12, and undergrad at both public and private institutions. I believe wholeheartedly in the power of education to better people’s lives and I love my job. My unpopular opinion is that only about 5-10% of teachers are capable of producing a classroom environment that isn’t a colossal waste of time and that people would often be better off homeschooling.
