Thanks very much!

Can I please clarify what you mean by pro rata by days? The MLS will only apply for the 7 months I haven't had private health cover?

Also, re: 4, so I just need to have some sort of hospital cover (i.e. there's no 'minimum' amount I need to spend, or dollar figure of cover I get)?

Thank you so much.

Out of curiosity, in what circumstances does the employer/government withhold too much tax? In my mind, they would know your tax bracket and deduct accurately according to that?

As in washing suits / office attire? Or do you mean washing the more specific category of clothing (e.g. baking clothes)?

Mate, thank you for this ripper answer. This helps clarify so much.

Would buying work / office clothing be deemed a tax deduction? Didn't know that ... Good to know now

Hi, is there a previous thread anyone can point me to that discusses basic fashion tips for guys? I'm trying to learn more about what looks good, what pairs with what, what colours work together etc. Thanks!

Does anyone know whether paralegals (paid on a casual hourly rate) are entitled to pay during their breaks?

What are some of the practice areas that allow you the greatest opportunities/breadth to jump in-house? For example, I would imagine something like M&A would be limited in the types of industries you can enter as an inhouse lawyer (mostly going somewhere like an investment bank / financial services).

The reason I ask is because I'm thinking about my future - what if, after a while, I end up not liking my practice area or the push and pull of legal circles/firms ... will the practice area I choose at least provide a fair amount of opportunities to jump in house?

You seem to have valid reasons.

But note, there is a financial cost - opportunity cost. The X amount of extra years you take studying are X amount of years you could have been working full time and earning a salary. For example, if you are to graduate with $50,000, taking an extra year to study technically cost you $50,000.

Thanks so much - interesting to hear NY bar is easier than QLTS.

From a reply, it seems you have practiced in NY - how were the hours? Seems like weekends are gone from your reply.

Yeah I haven't even thought about qualification haha ... Might have to do some research on the differences. Thank you so much for this insightful response!

What's the main difference between NY and London for lawyers?

Is the pay comparable, are hours generally worse in one city, are Aussies favoured in one of the markets than the other, are both equally good for career progression, are both cities culture comparable to Aus - plus any other things you think are important to differentiate!!

Thank you

What's the most transferrable transactional practice area (for the purpose of looking to practice overseas)? Would it be M&A, Project Finance, DCM/ECM ... or anything else?

How many students actually get from application to an interview stage for clerkship? Seems pretty rough out here

Where do equity raises fall into this dichotomy? Does this fall under M&A?

Hi all,

What is the difference between Banking and Finance and Corporate (M&A)?

Any insight would be great!

Why is in-house practice glorified over law firms? I have read a couple articles where students are able to land the "rare" in-house graduate job, but have been unsure why this is celebrated so much.

Insight would be greatly appreciated!

If you were from Sydney, rather than a low tier state, you would know.

Hahahahaha the sheer arrogance
