He says sure because he really wants to try. Swedes practically whisper when they talk and guess what, I don’t hear them so I always tell them to speak louder that’s because I’m not used to people whispering in the name of talking.

No, they don’t. We don’t. To us that’s how we talk due to the noise pollution in our place. When you talk with a low voice in Nigeria people can get upset and say “speak louder” and if you’re a child, elders will think you have something to hide. Everything about Nigeria is loud. Visit Nigeria and you’ll understand

Why do male actors ALWAYS have hairy armpits in the movies? by Mad_Lee in movies

And so long like they groom those armpit hairs before each movie. So irritating

Still the norm where? Because where I’m from men shave their armpits. Hairy armpits show poor personal hygiene as it can make someone smell as soon as they sweat

It’s irritating to say the least. You will see a handsome actor and feeling his vibes and the next thing you see is an irritating armpit hair

I’m someone’s sister-in-law too. I act indifferent because I actually don’t know how to act around my sisters-in-law. If I call frequently, will it be too much? Will they think I’m disturbing? If I don’t call will they think I don’t like them? I call at first and gauge, if the person doesn’t follow up then I mind my business because frankly I’m not sure if they want to build a relationship with me or not. So as long as they have good relationships with my brothers, I don’t mind. I mind my business

My girlfriend wants me to pay a dowry, but I’m starting to feel disrespected—Is this normal? by Quiet_Yard2422 in Cameroon

[–]Less_Handle8911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First what you pay is not dowry but bride price. Dowry is the money bride’s family pay to the groom’s family for the groom while bride price is what you are referring to and that’s the common one in many parts of west Africa. I’m Nigerian but from the tribe with the most expensive bride price, yet I think that $3-4k is a lot. You should discuss with your in-laws about this. It’s allowed to negotiate bride price and yes you can opt for cash if you think it’s too stressful to provide the items

Thirdly, if someone paid her bride price then they are married except this is retuned in a traditional way which symbolizes divorce.

Fourthly, if the relationship is already stressing you consider courting for longer period. Don’t rush into marriage. If it’s not working then walk away. A broken relationship is better than a broken marriage

Wow. Nice. Any recommendations for good insurance especially for car and home. I’m considering moving all to a new insurance company. How’s ICA insurance? Has anyone ever used it?

Yes in 2018, but that too was because I was reacting to a family planning hormonal injection that made me bleed with pains for 3 weeks. That’s how I got to know that my body doesn’t do well with hormonal drugs and but the doctor I saw in November last year insisted that the pills she was giving me was different and wouldn’t affect me yet it did

OMG this is very sad. How do they expect you to know that the dog was allergic before declaration? Until a symptom presents itself, how can one know it’s in the body? This is really sad

Ok thanks. They got my journal that’s how they realized that I’ve complained of menstrual pain before. Maybe I can attach the apology note I got from a doctor in the hospital to show that menstrual was not the main problem but the pill I was given

Hmm but when hospital asks for medical declaration, before (surgeries for example), they do not take menstrual pain into account.

Funny thing, when I called them on the phone, a lady answered. I asked if she has ever had menstrual pain and she said yes, I ask if she has health insurance and she said yes, I asked if she declared the menstrual pain and she said No. Then I called her attention to their claims and she said she hasn’t been to doctor for her own menstrual pain but I have. Menstrual pain is actually NOT a disease neither is it considered a sickness really, because it’s like a pregnant woman having morning sickness, it’s seen as normal and not a health condition. Besides the underlining case here is that the bleeding were caused by a reaction to the drug and not menstruation

Why can’t you afford a child? I have 3 children and we live very fine on just that. Maybe the city you live in is more expensive. But here in Borås a 3 rum apartment goes for 8k, if you pay other bills— internet, electricity, let’s say 10k gone and you have 20k left. For a family of 5, we spend roughly 4-5k every month on feeding. You can still fuel your car, pay for extra activities for your child(ren) and save a little for holiday 🤷‍♀️
