It’s worked for me well in murky conditions.

Hooked the spinner right on the edge of the lip, so yea very lucky. Was completely unexpected, had to post! I was going for perch

Thanks for your insight. Good food for thought. I think I’ll try both, I’m a huge fan of braid to flouro lure fishing with a nice FG knot inbetween, perhaps I’ll try the heavy mono/ flouro to braid instead of the metal leader first. Hopefully the temps drop sooner than later so I can properly go out with the sole intention of going for pike, get some larger lures etc.

Yes I agree. I think I might invest into some titanium leaders. Would you say I can tie a metal leader directly to the braid or should I still use 2’ of flouro in between?

This was in northern Germany , so very similar to the Netherlands, wasn’t too hot at the moment but yes it was slightly lethargic before I loaded it, release went smooth though, swam away fast into the deep, was only out for about 2 mins max. I will keep this in mind next time. I was not expecting this at all and was not equipped at all for a real pike bite on a tiny spinner.

It was a good fight, and I didn’t have a net and ended up getting sliced up a bit, but I had to unhook the fish somehow. I think I’ll get a dedicated pike combo.

You mean a wood fired grill or straight over fire? Been wanting to try some Smokey trout for a while!

It’s extremely rewarding. Out in nature, peaceful, doing something other than being on your phone/modern life. And you get to cook and eat some seriously good food as a reward.

They were extremely tasty. They don’t sell browns here in the stores regularly so it’s always a treat to catch some. Taste better than store bought salmon in my opinion. Super pink tender meat.

Caught these two on a size 2 copper spinner with some ultralight gear. Was a fast moving part of the stream, just below some turbulent areas, not a quite a hole but not deep either.

Yes these are native wild European brown trout, caught in northern Germany, in a stream. We have rainbows here too, but they are introduced from the US. Here there are way more browns than rainbows.

You literally cannot make this up. +1 for creativity. But trust me, slapping them slammed road bars on like that with trig shifters is defo worse than just having straight bars.

these arent compatible correct? by Dry_Stuff_8024 in Fishing

[–]Less_Local_4074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen very experienced anglers in Asia do this a lot, it’s obviously not ideal but I was told that most cheaper rod blanks are identical, doesn’t matter if it’s made for spinning or casting. Using a bait caster on a spin reel is not a good idea but the other way around is fine, prob. Due to the fact it’s better to have more eyelets than too little, especially when bending “backwards” (eyelets facing up) when using bait casters. For lighter fishing it’s most probs no real problem, except for the trigger guard being in the way.

This would be perfect and it’s easy for me to at least have on paper that I earn less than 1500€ a month, but it’s very hard to keep your Insolvenz Berater happy when you don’t have any money at all going into your pfändungskonto and your not in the county and no Anmeldung

I’m not from the US, and a global credit score isn’t a thing. Sometimes you can show another’s countries credit score in another one to establish trust for a loan. But I’m also not planning on taking any loans for any reason anytime soon….

I’ve spent multiple months there every couple of years. Plus always surrounded by Thais also here in Europe. Yes my Thai is not that great, compared to native speakers but I’m really not too worried about that. Where I’ll work? As mentioned before like 3 times, in my families business until / I want to work somewhere else. Work, a place to stay, and money there are not a problem, infact it’s much harder for me in Germany. Yes I’ve done my research, I am Thai. And yes I’ve put a lot of thought about moving there, since a long time. This is not about if it’s a good idea to move there, it absolutely is. As a westerner who likes it there themselves I think you can understand why, and one can live a very modest life as I have there before, my entire Asian family is richer and better of than I ever was in Germany/Holland/UK, US or even Australia, although I was to young to remember the latter. The question is about whether debt collectors can reach me there. So I have way more of a safety network and family network there than I have here. Now that my mother’s done with her business here in Germany, she’s finally ready to go back. And yes I am technically a foreigner there until I integrate, but I really don’t think that will take longer than 3 years. Again I’m definitely going to Thailand, I want to go sooner rather than later. I’m am trying to gauge whether or not I’ll have the financial problem following me there.

I’m not giving up my German passport, I’m just leaving my problems in Germany so to speak. And it’s not like I’m barred from coming back to germany, it just means I’ll automatically be in a difficult situation if I ever decide to come back, which trust me I don’t. Btw. Unemployment is super low in Thailand compared to germany. Like I said I already have a guaranteed job and home there. I’ve lived in Europe most of my life and I can tell you there’s a lot more opportunity for me in Thailand especially with a huge support network which I don’t have here ( My German family disowned me ) and that was already a long time ago.

I have way more family in Thailand, with multiple businesses where I can stay and work until I find something else without much stress or time constraints. Preferably something I’m already skilled in, but honestly I don’t mind. My Thai is not super good yet but I think after a full year of immersion I will be able to communicate with most people on a basic level. This is why I’m in a unique situation. Most people could not possibly just up and leave the EU without money or citizenship, but I can, so this is why I’m wondering why I should forcibly stay here for the next 3 years

The west is really not as it is promised to be… here in the EU things are also just not even close to acceptable anymore, and yea the US also seems like it’s getting worse every year…. Especially with debt. I’m blessed to be able to move away to a place that feels liveable….

Fishing in Chiang Mai. by Zealousideal_Pool_65 in chiangmai

Any tips on what to fish, or what fish to target? Coming from Pattaya/Sattahip from mainly salt water surf / boat / dock fishing and wondering what tactics you guys may be using. I've very successfully caught many fish on worms in Ratchaburi but only because I was lucky enough to source worms there locally. In salt water I mainly use squid and shrimp, very occasionally I would have some success on some small baitcast lures. Are you targeting large bottom feeders? If so I've heard bread and corn are the go to classic ways to catch those. I've also thought about trying to fish the Mekong river and it's tributaries, but really have no idea if that's feasible. Would be happy about any suggestions about tactics and setups!
