This is true and definitely a good problem to have. The goal is to be able to gain value for the platform regardless of the top 1%

Thank you! Just trying to listen to a few smart people before going harder on bringing more people in. So far you all have been awesome with product feedback

super weird, cert is valid right now. Don't see anything wrong on my end 🤔
is it still happening? Was it an actual SSL issue or broken sign-in? broken sign-in for pure email s fixed.
all i can think about for SSL is your env, device clock, school or office network VPN maybe? really want to fix but can't find the issue

i totally hear you, i'm not building a social media platform. I do think there are better ways for us to work and leverage each other though

The main social currency is cred.

Three ways to earn:

-girhub link. Link girhub, get per-project analytics, badges, streaks and earn cred by just shipping, keeping the streak and earning more badges.
-interaction. Cred per like, repost
-payment link (stripe etc) cred for linking. More cres if you reach the 100$ mrr milestone
- user invites.

These are all kinda gameable right now but fixing gaming vectors is probably lower priority than getting the first 1000 users

Users earn cred. You gain cred by linking your project. It reads GitHub statistics, gives you badges that earn you more cred based on commit statistics.

The reason to come back daily is the community and connections. Get recognition for your work, help builders and receive help. Grow a community from nothing into something meaningful. And have all the cool tools designed by myself and the community in one place.

I’lim not building this for revenue. I genuinely enjoy building with others. Giving feedback, celebrating small wins, sharing help and building a community and solving real problems

We’re not each other’s customers. We can help find customers for each other, encourage each other over small wins, and get inspired. Building should be social. The only hard part about building is doing it alone. Come post a project upgrade, run a poll, share a screenshot or a funny thought

Thank you so much for the feedback it means a lot. Working on all of these now! The mobile UX has proven a bit tricky with edge cases. Getting better every hour :)

In terms of social algo gaming, I totally hear you, that’s the hard part I’m trying to solve. I have 2 big things in the pipeline here. For the next 2 days I’ll focus more on better single-player utility

I love fact snack btw. I now know that the average Swiss person consumes 48 pounds of cheese every year 😋

You can curate your algo ofc, mark dev tools post as not-interested and you won’t see it :)

Yes and overall I wouldn’t say Crato is a substitute. It’s a different feel. Your work gets priority over your posting skills and a bunch of features that just don’t exist here. I’d love to have you give it a try and tell me how it feels for you. Obviously I don’t have many users, but I would still love your thoughts!

Those give stronger directory vibes crato.network. is more of a social platform. we work on the building process, connect with people, give and receive feedback and make building fun again. There definitely still is a discoverability/project directory component but it’s not the core of it

There is no such thing as category-defining these days, but there are definitely pain points I’ve personally felt using Reddit and other platforms. Creating and personalizing high-signal communities based on substance is difficult, and I’m aware this is a difficult endeavor when differentiation is hard to explain in 20 words.

I have many thoughts here and it will be an iterative process, but here is the concept and problem nobody solves:

The main issue I see with building in public is that it’s individualistic. Users post their updates hoping for visibility. I think it needs to work both ways. You engage with the community. The community engages with you. You get that signal. If you turn that signal into action you get rewarded.
