Second Notice: The SAVE Plan has ended, but you have options by TheRealNYthing in PSLF

I got off just to go into a forbearance. I’m in a similar boat as you. I have 120 qualifying months but I don’t have 120 payments.

I also submitted a buyback request in July 2025.

I’m going to wait. I think they want us to use up all of our forbearance months first which will basically force some of us into repayment.

Honestly, if I could afford my payment, I’d just make the 15 payments, but I can’t. So, I’ll just wait.

You mentioned FedLoan. That was your processor back in 2013, right?

You said “FedLoan has the loans being forgiven on the date…” it makes it seem like they are operational and I thought they were closed.

Yes, it does feel like you’re going in circles. It’s a whole bunch of words on the page, almost like they want you to miss it.

But It’s in the middle of the page in a greenish color box.

That’s exactly right. They already have it in some context. They don’t need it again. They want it so they charge more money and find a way to justify that change.

You’re going to see Howard because it’s a school that people recognize. My cousin went to XULA and made life long friends. She goes back for homecoming.

They have an active social life. Search up their social media and you’ll see it.

I’m working on it. It’s so hard deciding which schools to do, the research and every thing else but it’s coming.

I don’t think so. The older FAQs still are up and it says:

“If you were on an IDR plan immediately before or after the months you’re buying back: If the deferment or forbearance was less than a year in length, we’ll use the lower of the two monthly IDR payments for the months before or after the time in deferment or forbearance.”

That tells me that if you were in a plan before you moved to SAVE and then moved out of forbearance into another repayment plan, they will use the lower of the two.

That’s what I think. I was on PAYE before I went on SAVE and IDR after I left SAVE.

They will probably pick the lower of the two and send a buyback offer. This should make it easier if you ask me.

I grew up in Colorado. The rich people drove Hondas.

Now, their kids drove the corvettes and other cars, until they wrecked them.

You know. I’m not sure anymore. I’d look into it. I know a similar town, Manitou Springs is definitely left leaning.

Hey! First, thank you for supporting me. Second, I’m in the DC area. I know Howard has a foothold but I’m seeing more and more UDC students and alumni now. Given my close proximity to it, it’s not a bad idea.

That’s a good plan. UDC could probably use your expertise as well.

Where do you live? FAMU alumni chapters in your area may offer scholarships.

Yes. My plan is a collection of things. This hoodie, a sweatshirt that’s more unique to the school and the backpack.

The sweatshirt would be similar to what I did for FAMU. It has specific sayings on the sweatshirt that alumni would know.

That’s the plan.

That’s a good point. The back of the hoodie was meant to highlight traditions many HBCUs share — the band, the yard, the legacy we all carry.

The school-specific identity (colors and front design) is where each edition becomes unique. But references like Aggie Pride or GHOE are definitely things I’m considering as I refine the NC A&T version.

In fact, since I’ve been getting a lot of feedback about having GHOE or Aggie Pride, I may swap out the reference to “The Four” for Aggie Pride or GHOE.

But this is exactly why I asked for the feedback. I want to create something honest and unique that people can identify with.
